This morning I was awoken by what could only be described as someone jackhammering my ceiling intermittently. It made sleeping difficult. Casey and I never quite figured out what sort of construction was going on, and where in the building the noise originated, but it was very loud in our apartment very early in the morning.

I spent most of the early afternoon yakking on the phone with Julia while she drove through eastern Colorado. It was really good to talk to her a good long while and was nice to hear what news she had of Cornell friends. I miss being able to just chat about life and friends while having a snack and watching Sex and the City at night. I must call or email Dan soon, cause I also miss being able to just go downstairs and chat with him. Luckily I am not conversationless, considering that awesome talk I had with Danielle last night.

I cleaned the kitchen counters today, and tried to make room for some recycling under the counter. I am not sure yet that it's the best cabinet for recycling - it's shared with pots and pans. Ah well, it'll work itself out soon enough. I think we all keep rearranging things slightly as we're trying to find where the logical places of things are in the fridge and in the cabinets, and it's finally all starting to work quite well.

I wish Schnucks gave customers the option of "paper, or plastic?" rather than just having plastic, because those paper bags are the best thing to keep and use for recycling. Plus I hate getting plastic bags. I am bringing my own as much as possible. Today I brought my backpack when I rode my bike to Schnucks, and that went well. I was nervous about heading out into the city on my own, but Casey seemed unfazed by me heading out for a bit, and that made me feel better, and my ride was great. I LOVED riding my bike down Lindell! I felt as safe as if I were driving a car. Can't bother me, potentially dangerous people, cause I'm swiftly riding RIGHT by you! Plus everything's so green, and I love riding by that beautiful basilica. I may go to church there on Sunday just to check it out. And I found my bank! Depending on the temperature and how early I get up, I may ride to the bank tomorrow too just to get out on my bike again before it gets TOO hot. It's going to be just a beastly 100+ degree weekend.
I NEED to figure out the whole bike garage thing. My bike would fit beautifully in the closet if the stuff in it were arranged differently, and then I know it wouldn't get stolen... but I think it'd be best to keep it downstairs locked up and out of our way. It was awkward to deal with.

There's finally enough chocolate in the apartment. yay.
