"fluttering, quaking, shivering, shaking"

Apparently there was an EARTHQUAKE this morning in the midwest! 5.4! I didn't feel it because I sleep like a log, but I kind of wish I had. Wouldn't that have been weird?

Anyway, Presentation Tomorrow!!!! I'm so excited. Two nights ago was my one frustrated this-is-going-to-suck moment with this whole project really, but yesterday I felt great. Got a little powerpoint done, and I practiced my presentation with Carol Wightman, whom I LOVE! She was so helpful and incredibly flattering and encouraging. I could not have hoped for a better experience. She kept going on and on about how interesting my presentation was and her enthusiasm made me feel OUTSTANDING. She complimented my speaking voice and that it's nice and big so it carries, which is good in a room where I'll have no microphone. (Thank you Smith genes for that one!) She made me feel so at ease and told me to really have fun with it, because its clear that I know and enjoy my material. I hope I have an audience like her, who responds to things and is grossed out by some things and laughs at others. She said she LOVED my ending, with the two quotes, and especially the turn of phrase between them. Oh I was so excited to do the presentation after meeting with her. She also helped me cut the talk down, because it was too long. After cutting 32 pages, I didn't have the heart to cut another thing, but like, 2 more pages really needed to go. She helped me make those decisions. She suggested to cut things I would never have thought to cut, like China, and while it broke my heart to make some of the cuts (especially the China stuff, it may have been tangential, but I thought it was so powerful) once they were made I realized that they weren't necessary in the overall structure of the presentation. Good. I console myself by saying that they're not really gone, they're still in the paper! (Which is really the more important of the two products.)

Anyway. MOM is coming!!!!!!!!! Yay. Makes me happy that she'll be there.
