"Baby Cheeses," "Baby Jesus?"

So, I'm actually much more excited about my Latin name now that I've actually picked it out. I am Aemilia Catalinae. I am excited about it because Aemilia is about as close to Amy as you can get, and Catalina was my Spanish name forEVER, which makes me really happy.
Julia pointed out to me that making my Latin bio is like creating a DnD character. Do I roll for stats now?

So yesterday I spent like 20 million years doing Latin, and today I finished my work really fast, and I feel like I should be working on something more and it kind of freaks me out. Or maybe it's just that my prof wised up and changed the homework assignment this afternoon. Sweet.

Block break was all kinds of amazing.
We work up early for skiing, and it wasn't really that cold! It was like 16 degrees! SUCH a nice day! Got my skiis and the guy gave me ones that came just about to the top of my head. I asked him to go back and get me shorter ones, because I like my skis on the short side. After that we hit the slopes and goodness did we have FUN! The snow wasn't bad! A bit icy, but better than I expected. I liked helping Julia help Bryce with his technique. I felt like my dad cause I was basically spitting out all the things he used to tell me.
"Keep your inside ski slightly behind your outside ski!"
"Lean forward onto your shins and the balls of your feet!"
"Point! Turn your body the direction you want to go!"
and my favorite.... "Ride the Ski!"
Anyway, we skied leisurely, and stopped for lunch. I was glad we'd packed Cornell take-out sandwiches in addition to the soup I had there (that I burned Julia with, oops). Bryce went out while we finished eating to get a few more runs in. He was very enthusiastic, and I am so glad he didn't let falling so often discourage or ruffle him at all. I didn't fall (while skiing) at all! I did wind up in a mess once though. You see, Bryce crashed and had a yard sale going down the hill. I tried to fetch one of his many items strewn about and in the process, I tumbled off a cliff! Julia however saw me in danger, screamed "NOO!!!" and skiied below the cliff and caught me before I crashed to my death!

... Actually, I kind of slid off the run trying to stand up off-balanced with the stuff, twisted my knees in an uncomfortable/painful way, and ended up in a snow bank in the trees. Julia did however come rushing to my rescue abandoning her skis and climbing back up the slope to extricate me from the tangled situation. It was silly how unbalanced and awkward I was.
But, determined to still have a good run, we made it to the time course, and I beat my BEST time ever! THAT is how I will remember that run, relishing in seeing 21.04 seconds on the score thing. The time course was a little messed up that day. Julia is apparently a ghost or has no soul, as the timer often didn't recognize her presence. Sad.

After lingering perhaps too long with hot cocoa, we set off for Madison! The drive took WAY too long because the weather was shitty and we hit rush-hour traffic in Madison. Whoops. BUT we eventually got there, dumped all our stuff all over his apartment, I ate a cookie, and we made a plan for the night. We went to the grocery store for ingredients for english muffin pizzas and for brownie batter. Bryce got stuff for Gualsa, (mmm, avacado and salsa) and we ate that and Ian's Chex Mix while our pizzas cooked. I think we finally ate dinner around like nearly nine. We ended up watching the episode of Alias where Will finds out about Sydney being a spy, and we 3 texted Heather the infamous "WILL TIPPIN HAS A BOMB IN HIS HEAD!" Good times. With Brownie batter (that wasn't all that good as batter but made fabulous brownies) we watched Stardust, which was really magical. I loved it. We also marveled over Ian's new computer in pieces, his shiny reflective mixing bowl, and his collection of used red lobster gift cards (holy crap). We also took an interesting photo of me to imitate the other photo of ME that we found on Julia's friends page. More on this later.

In the morn Julia was gone visiting Madison, and Bryce, Ian and I slept in and then in the morning watched T2 special effects scenes, took apart the duck hunt gun in an attempt to understand it's inner mechanisms and how the broken gun might be fixed (to no avail) and played a lot of Super Mario 3, which I suck at. I think we also watched another Alias...

Either way eventually we wandered in downtown Madison, and perused the art museum. Modern art is just stupid sometimes. When Julia and her friend from Cornell University from this summer met up with us, we went out for gelato and gyros. Yes in that order. YUMMO. Satisfying evening.

That was SkiIan. Will tell you about all the good times the rest of the weekend held when I return!
