So this weekend was pretty great. Well, the first half was kind of hit-or-miss, but the second half was really relaxing and enjoyable.
Thursday night Casey came to be with me, and then Friday I magically didn't have afternoon class! Great. Except for some reason Casey and I kept getting into little pouty tiffs. I think the problem was that we were each tired from the week and we're both really sensitive and stubborn people, and it was easy to upset the other person, and then we'd be too stubborn to let it go. Weird afternoon.
I wasn't too excited about the Ratt dance, but thankfully Jenn and Jeanna both brought me music to play so I didn't have to do the whole playlist for the night. I got annoyed when I heard all the U of I dancers were going to Drake instead of coming to our dance. So needless to say we were interested to see what our turnout would be, but that night a whole bunch of Cornellians showed up to the Ratt for dancing! I was so pleased! I was glad to see the beginners there this year because they really haven't been to a ratt dance yet this year. It was a lot of fun, and people got into the waltz, which was fun. Had fun dancing with Lucio and Josiah and Brittany. I was happy to see Heather there too, she's my dancing friend and always will be.
Saturday we got pouty again, but then we were like "This is ridiculous and we're wasting our time together being in bad moods." That like, fixed everything, and from Saturday afternoon on things were really nice! We went to see Trigger at the Theatre Building, and when we went in, i honestly had my doubts. A workshop play about guns in American lives... I worried it'd be preachy, or just disturbing, or depressing, or like a PBS special. But it wasn't! It was SO ENTERTAINING. I laughed (apparently a little too loudly) at the "... and tacos!" line. But it was so hysterical! The play overall had some very real believable scenes and it really made me think... Casey chatted about it later and we each felt like there were characters we could really identify with. Anyway, good job to all there.
After that we went to the Hamburg Inn for lunch/dinner. Casey made fun of me and called me boring because I wanted a chocolate malt... again. He always tries something weird and it's kind of hit or miss. I like just getting what I already know is FAB. He got pineapple milkshake and it wasn't bad but it wasn't chocolate.
Then was the Basketball game at Iowa! Woo! I was very surprised by the size of Carver (I was expecting like, you know, a gym with bleachers) and I don't know why I assumed it would be small. It's Iowa, and football's over. But I like basketball as a game so much better than football, and I really understand this sport. So that made it more fun to watch. I liked how relaxed and happy we were just to chill and watch the game, and SO agreed when Casey turned and said "Now this feels more like us." No more poutyness.

Yeah Basketball! I'm even wearing my IOWA shirt.
Man, we look really crazed. Yep. Definitely "more like us."
Sunday we went grocery shopping at HyVee (yes that is noteworthy) and I was really excited about my new gel insoles so my arches won't hurt all the time. They rock. I helped Casey buy face lotion and makeup stuff for his Stage Makeup class. He joked we were going to confuse the check-out person. (is it bad that I'm happy he's in this class mostly because it means he'll have to shave like all the time?) We also spent a lot of the day watching Desperate Housewives (we rented the first disk of season 2 at Blockbuster).
In the evening we went out to a fancy dinner to celebrate finishing ALL that grad school and fellowship stuff, finally! My mom wanted Casey to take me out cause she's really proud of me getting all 10 applications done, and so she's sending him a bunch of money to pick up the tab. We went to Iowa River Power Restaurant, which is my favorite place in the area. GOD it was such a nice dinner. I like that place because it's fancy, but with a comfortable atmosphere, so it was so NICE to relax like that! There was NO ONE there cause we went to dinner so late, and we got way more food than we can eat (can anyone say delicious leftovers?!) and we talked a LOT. Casey was worried about Peter, the character he's playing in And Baby Makes Seven. He was worried about the whole badly-wanting-a-kid part to come off right and not knowing much about Peter in that aspect. So he just had me ask him all sorts of questions about Peter and the situation and everything, and I really enjoyed it. I loved helping because I feel like that's a part of Casey's life that I'm really not involved in and he doesn't share a lot about. He usually wants to keep plays a surprise so I'll get the full effect when I see it, but then I usually don't know a lot about the process. But this time it's different and I like being let in more. Later then he decided that he's going to have to find that in himself and really feel that for himself too. He wants to be a dad someday, but when it seems far off you never really think much about it you know? So we talked a little bit about kids and babies and what we each want and silly things like names we like and stuff to help with that a bit. Normally things about the future like that are usually a bit uncomfortable/shy conversations (we're a very 'here & now' couple) but this totally wasn't, and it was quite fun! One of my favorite parts of the meal though was my soup. I guess I just have to just show you:

Casey's said "Welcome!" which was a little more impressive.
Also, wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles, we found a wine Casey really liked. YES!
And don't worry, I waited until there were no waiters around to take a photo of my soup.
"There must be more than this provincial life!" I'm getting really excited to move somewhere shiny and new with Casey and start grad school the more and more we talk about it together. So much is going to change and we've both agreed that it's going to be such an adventure.
I'm listening to "Reflection" by Mulan, and it reminded me of the Disney Medley (or was it just a Mulan Medley?) that we played in 8th grade in orchestra. That was such a fun times.
"And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs, so I'm roughly the size of a BARGE!" - Most hilarious line in Disney. Oh Gaston!
