Despite the fact that I couldn't initially get into my room and was pouty about it, everything has been going great here in Clock Tower Hall! I moved in on Sunday with the help of my father and friends and we got everything in without getting rained on. I am SOOOOOOOO excited about how fantastic this year is going to be living in this suite with Julia, Maggie, and Kerri. Oh my gosh it's going to be good.
And the place is fantastic. My room is quite a decent size - I wouldn't want or need it any bigger, and it's going to be very cozy when I finally finish getting it all set up and decorated. The bathroom is huge (almost unsettlingly large in some areas!) and new and clean! We're all really into keeping it very clean too. I'm glad I live with people who are slightly clean freaks. The rooms are all painted a nice khaki color (except for the few accent walls) which is nicer than stark white I think, and we have good carpet throughout the whole place (except the tiled bathroom). The shower has a seat so I can shave with comfort and it's such a step up from Bowman. We've yet to figure out if you get burned when the toilet flushes, but I'm guessing we won't. As Leslie remarked the living room is still a little bare, but we've only been here like 2 days! It came with a big blue couch and little tan seats, and a coffee table and two little tables, and Julia brought in the TV, DDR pad, and fridge. Maggie and I joked we should get a fake plant. There's lots of big empty corners in this place that could use a good fake tree! The storage room is REALLY nice, because it's absolutely huge, and it's nice to not have to worry about configuring everything so that it all fits under my bed nicely. Extra suitcase? Toss it in the storage room! It's got a weird way of opening, but the light flicks on when it senses someone is in there, and that's cool. The temperature control in the suite has been erratic at best, so it's either freezing or a bit too warm, but I guess that's true all over the building, and it is trying to regulate itself somehow. So while it was like 68 when we moved in, and it was in the 70s the other day, it's now 65, which is pretty chilly! We're still not really sure how to use the temp gauge thing either. But Maggie says we're not allowed to complain about air conditioning, and boy is she right. I'd rather be wearing a hoodie in my slighly-too-cool suite than roasting my skin off in a humid dorm right now. I'll have to post a pic of my room when I get it all set up. I'm almost there; it's just been a slow process.
Still gotta make my door decs, but my computer's almost out of ink, so I don't know that I'll be able to print them unless I go out and buy more ink (and is color low? or black? idk), or hook up to the color library printer or something. Though I'm not really even hooked up to the Cornell network technically I don't think, so idk what my options are. Though last night Cisco clean access agent found me and wanted me to sign on, but the download wouldn't work (probably because of vista) and so I couldn't get back on the internet at night. What a pain. Ugh, computers, what a pain in the ass they can be.
The last few days have involved SEEING FRIENDS (which I'm ecstatic about!) seeing Casey again, going out for dinner at Applebee's with everyone, and some wildly successful shopping runs to target, BB&B, and Menards. I got curtains! Maggie's curtains looked so cute that I couldn't resist. They're yellow, but the curtain rod I got is just a little too small, so I'll have to exchange that. Dang! I ironed the curtains and everything and now I must wait to hang them! We also bought lots of 3M hooks ("HOOKS!!!" - Me, Heather, Maggie, and Sarah) and shelves and goo gone and and decorative fish and candy and all sorts of odds and ends that we need. I bought a cute frame only to realize that like, all my frames are 4x6 that go up and down, and the pictures I want to frame actually go side to side. Dang! Well, just have to buy more picture frames!
It's been so so so good being around my friends again, because it was a quiet summer friends-wise. I did hang out with Dave and Steven like two or three times which was loads of fun and laughter, and Casey did visit for 2 weeks, and I saw Jamie and Jackie when I was in IL for a week, but I just listed every interaction with friends I had all summer. I'm already loving living with Maggie and Julia, and it's so nice to have Heather nearby again too. We sang loudly last night. And it was so fun to see Leslie again when we all watched Mean Girls last night. I hope we all make more time to hang out this year and that I find time in my homework and grad school busy time to EXIST to my friends, which I wasn't the best at last year. Also, I love having the Bry/ians just below us! Brian Wall is one stealthy helpful friend. I can't wait for Dan to move in, and Sammi.
Well, better get back to organizing and decorating my room!
