This Latin class, since it's "Accelerated Latin," goes the same speed as the block plan, and is 5 weeks instead of three and a half. I'm a little worried about it because the block plan speed is precisely why I don't feel I really learned Latin very well the first time! It's going to get really hard really fast in these next few days. But I'm learning Latin WAY better this time. This book is certainly thorough, and somewhat over my head at times, but the approach to the language makes SOOO much more sense. Infinitely better book. I know I don't have to kill myself because the grade for this class doesn't matter; I'm just taking it to learn as much Latin as I can, but on the other hand, I don't want to just kind of skim the class because it was really expensive (stupid tuition! STUPID Gas prices! Stupid Parking meters! - seriously I hate finding places to put my stupid car) and I don't want to waste my parents' money. Why am I suddenly realizing that EVERYTHING is expensive? I am 21 and already hate money and don't even need to worry about being financially independant yet. I'm in for a world of aggrivation over high prices of stuff. Anyway, Latin takes up most of my life when I get home. Got a big quiz on Friday... eek! I know what I'm doing Thursday night!

But, I did find something REALLY COOL in my book. At the end of each chapter there's like a "here's a famous latin quote that you can now read with your new skills!" section, and One of the quotes for Chapter 2 was from none other than HERODES ATTICUS, like, the Roman Consul from the Oedon of Herodes Atticus that we saw in Athens on our way up the Acropolis! I was VERY excited about that connection between my amazing greece trip and the latin I am learning now. Oh Greece! I had some of my delicious honey this afternoon.

Today was the first day of my internship, and getting to the museum and finding a place to park = more stress and frustration than I felt all year combined, all in one 1/2 hour block. I was SO upset driving in circles around Denver trying to find a fucking place to park my car for several hours. I was so frustrated that where I'd planned to park, the only place I knew, was full. I hate hate hate driving in Denver so so so much. City driving blows. That was le suck.

Plus after all that stress I was EXHAUSTED and looked frazzled and was 10 minutes late for my first day of my internship at the Historical society. I'm a little annoyed I'm not being paid now that I know what a PAIN IN THE ASS it was to get there, and that I had to pay to stupid park. But it was good. Looked through my first manuscript collection and trying to make heads or tails of how these turn-of-the-century manuscripts were related and why they were put in the same collection was a little tough. There were several documents about mining silver in Nevada, some about investing in Denver, some personal correspondance of JW Finch, and a lot of letters about Masonic lodges. It took reading them quite a few times before I figured out why they were named the way they were, and that they were grouped in that they were actually related because JW Finch was a resident of Denver and owned silver mines in Nevada, and the Masons lodge in Colorado was considering a member who had recently been a miner in the area of nevada where Finch's mine was. This took me quite a while to piece together, and figure out, what does this Colorado Mason's lodge have to do with this random guy, have to do with mining silver in Nevada? It's like a puzzle. I'll work on the researcher's collection report tomorrow I think, though I'm not looking forward to getting back there. I have my own little office though, even though it's FREEZINGLY air-conditioned.

After that long morning of tons of driving I just got back and fell asleep on the couch involuntarily for an hour.

Ok, I've procrastinated from my Latin sentences long enough, back I go!
It's gonna be a long summer of work. I won't have a life until July I don't think.
