Ok so I'm gonna do homework and update simultaneously, taking breaks from each.
JACK'S MANNEQUIN 10,000 HOURS CONCERT
Okay, I'm so glad I went to this concert because it was amazing. Casey and I had a quick dinner and then Lindsey picked me up to head over. I was so pleased to see that I got a FREE t-shirt and didn't have to purchase one (because I thoroughly believe in the necessity of a concert tee), and was even happier that Lindsey had access ("Can I go in there? I'm authorized personnel!" - Lindsey) to the like staff room so we didn't have to hang onto all our crap during the show. We left our coats in the car though and braved the snow from the parking garage to the IMU across the street. We waited a long time for the warmup band to start. We were pretty close to the stage, even though we were towards the back of the audience - the attendance was a little underwhelming considering the snow, but the people who were there were awesome and sang along like crazy (as did I). I was pleased. The opening band, Treaty of Paris, neither Lindsey nor I were terribly impressed with. The singer looked a little bit like he was about to go into a full seizure - his dancing was bizarre, sickly-looking, and distracting. After a very long set they were finally done playing and then they had to change the set, and THEN Jack's Mannequin took the stage. I knew I had made the right choice procrastinating on my HW when they opened with "I'm Ready" and everyone flipped out. I was so excited, and I loved that I knew all the words to all the songs except "Last Straw" which I'll have to get from Lindsey. I wish Casey could have been there - he would have had a good time. Lindsey and I were a little frustrated by the excessive amount of tall people in front of us - they made her feel short! Me, I always feel short, but it was a little ridiculous. Still I had a pretty great window to view the piano from. I didn't know one could rock out and dance while playing the piano, but as Andrew demonstrated, it is certainly possible. He made the crowd of volunteers feel very happy. Since it was small it was quite a personal show and things were very relaxed and FUN. I'm SO GLAD they played "Bruised" because it's my favorite one! I shouted the lyrics at the top of my lungs with everyone else and was SO happy to be at the concert at that moment. I also enjoyed their rendition of "Dark Blue" very much. Lindsey was sad they didn't play "Miss Delaney" but what can you do? It was like the only song on the CD not played that night. They covered "American Girl" and that Police song "SOS" and ended with "MFEO/You Can Breathe" which was like a million hours long and filled with each band member's instrument solo. Very enjoyable. I was incredibly hot and my ears were ringing afterwards, but it was worth it.
