"The Revolution is over" - Napoleon

Okay, so that was a very hard final! The six terms were hard, the essay was okay because I was up until 2am preparing for a question just like that, and the last essay was total historiography bullshitting on my part. I hope I did okay. I stayed until like 12:30, and then had lunch with Sammi and Bryan and we bitched about it. But then I was free! I got my necessary closure by purchasing a brad folder (as well as next block's books) and taking all my notes and papers and putting them neatly away in it, recycling what I no longer needed, and labeling the folder "The Enlightenment and the French Revolution - Block 6 Jan, 2007 Professor Givens" and putting it away. DONE. I love organizing, and closure.

Then Julia and I put on SNOWPANTS (to keep our legs warm cause it's "Booger-freezing cold!" as a man outside the commons put it earlier today) and walked down to downtown mt. Vernon. I forgot to bring my bag of change, so I just got cash at the bank. The wine store was closed. We celebrated the great success of our snowpants and decided that we could walk to Gary's, or even Cedar Rapids, without getting cold. We decided to stop at Big Creek Market though to check out their organic wines before we walked all the way to Gary's though. Wanted red wine, but didn't really know what kind to get. Julia advised me to just pick the one with the best looking label, and so naturally I got the one that is called "Iowa Barn Dance Red" that has a painting of people dancing with wine in their hands. Should be good. I had to debate a little bit though because there was also one that looked like pirate wine that really tempted me. We got like partway down the street walking back before I realized "wait. how am I going to open this?" and went in search of a corkscrew. No luck at silver spider, so we went back to Big Creek Market and got a nifty one. How silly of us.

Just took a good shower, and I'm getting excited for SkIan tomorrow. I'm just relieved to be done with my final and not freaking out about not knowing enough about Robespierre or the National Convention or Diderot or something.

Monday night Casey came to hang out with me, which was a bit of a surprise! I met him in the Commons after Dark Purple, and we went to brown bag and did homework together for a really long time (We're both very productive readers around one another) and at 1am decided to finish LOST! WOW I forgot how exciting "Live Together Die Alone" is. What a good, albiet long, episode. We watched with this girl that was in the lounge that we sort of stole the TV from, and a box of cheeze-its. It was yet another night up til 3 am, but it was worth it. I'm so glad he came.

Next block goal: SLEEP. I didn't get enough sleep this block at all. WAY too many late homework nights. Must work on this.
