So yesterday was my Two-Year Anniversary with Casey (!!!!), and today I caught a bat and read A Modest Proposal. It's been a pretty great few days.
Okay so Monday night Casey decided to just come up after rehearsal so that we could wake up and spend the whole day together on Tuesday. But I had more homework that night than expected so he came and we just kind of chilled out together on the futon. I read and he watched Julia play FFXII and napped a bit. We then stayed up chatting/laughing about life and love and all matter of ridiculous things in the Bowman Formal lounge (much like we had done the night before in the Bowman Study Lounge) for a really long time before going to bed. I really enjoy spending time with him, even if we're just chatting on the couch in the freezing lounge. We went to breakfast with friends in the morning and eventually I had to go to class so he walked me to armstrong. He made the sushi rice (which was very sticky - huzzah!) while I was gone. After class I packed, he teased me for being slow, and we went to Big Creek Market and HyVee for sushi supplies! I am glad I'd seen that cheap seaweed at BCM during NSO. I was estatic when I found that HyVee sold a glorious two-pack value pack of my precious Clear Care eye stuff. I was disheartened the other day when Gary's didn't have it. I also got us some potato chips and dip for later because over break I'd gotten a big craving for Grandma's French Onion Dip. Dean's is not as good as Grandma's, fyi.
When we got back, we left a note saying dinner would be late and we set to work. He made the adhesive more sugary this time but it still just sogged up like usual so we've decided to just ditch that step because it just makes things difficult. I cut the cucumbers and he got the avacados. He cut them kind of big and I didn't like the idea of biting into that much avacado, but it turned out delicious. We also had imitation crab meat and cream cheese, which I'm starting to love more and more in my sushi. we made a TON of rolls! And they were all huge. We got this sweet system going where we'd both start spreading rice onto the seaweed, and when I was done making mine all neat, we'd trade and I'd finish up his while he'd add ingredients and adhesive to the one I'd made. Then we'd switch again and I'd roll it up really tight. He said I'm much better than him at the rice spreading, and rolling, and cutting. I'm just skilled. But he makes great sticky rice and our system was actually really efficient! Cause when I was done rolling it he'd put it in the fridge (cooled sushi cuts easier), and we'd start over! It was a lot of fun. He was worried that it was not romantic to be making sushi for the house on our anniversary, but I had a good time. We were gonna make it anyway, so might as well make more for everyone and get lots of house hours for it. Plus we're going out for a fancy early dinner friday afternoon. He also made fried bananas, which I liked in theory, but i had one while they weren't all the way done and it wasn't so good. He assured me they got better but I never got a chance to try one.
Before we cut and served it I gave him his present. It was a set of three sushi plates and matching little soy sauce dishes and nice chopsticks. He opened it up and thought they were really cool until he saw the one that had his name on it and I'd told him I made them, and then he just like exploded about how much he loved them, and what a neat gift it was. I expected him to like them, but I didn't think they'd go over that well! Haha. He showed them off to people in his house. Oh, and he showed his mom the bowls I'd made him and she thought they were really neat and liked them a lot, so we're gonna pick out one of my pots for her to have. Anyway I was really happy he liked my gift and we ate off of them that night. We gave up on the chopsticks and eventually just used our fingers, but that's ok.
I got to ring the dinner bell again! hehe. I think the sushi came out really good! I ate a lot but surprisingly never felt too full. He was sweet and did the dishes to give me a headstart on my homework for the night. I didn't do all of it, (but who can blame me? I mean c'mon, 2-year anniversary with sushi and my wonderful boyfriend? That's going to take priority over the first tuesday of the block's reading assignment) but I got through at least half and it was thankfully the half that we ended up discussing in class today. It took me a long time to even get through that much. Grrr.
Since neither of us had written each other sappy cards to go with our presents (I'd barely wrapped his and apparently I can't have mine from him until Friday... and I should look nice.... what has he got up his sleeve?!) so next came the part of the night where we had a long romantic chat including all the feelings we should have put down into a card. I liked just saying them instead, and we said some pretty amazing things. I love him. That went from romantic to ridiculously goofy eventually and I think he's starting to realize what a weirdo I am. good.
Anyway, after showering it was like 2 am but we got all settled into his armchairs in front of the computer and watched the episode "Lockdown" of Lost. GAH "Henry Gale" is so creeeeepy! We munched on our chips and dip (which were not as good as expected, but still yummy) and I liked hearing Casey's predictions about what was going to happen and such. He thinks "henry" was Desmond's partner in the hatch. Hah! It's a shame the computer shuts the show off like at least once an episode. Oh well, what can you do?
I was soooo pleased he'd turned on his electric blanket while we were watching LOST because then his bed was totally snuggly to crawl into. I fell asleep instantly, slept straight through the night and didn't wake up once; I was so dead tired. we set an alarm for the morning and slept in a little later than planned anyway.
When I got up to go to the bathroom, I went up the stairs and opened the door, which doesn't touch the floor all the way and so it kind of bumped into something. whatever, it's 10 am. I go to the bathroom and when I come back, I see something on the ground. I'm confused and realize, yes, It's A BAT!!!! It was all curled up on the ground. I had hit it with the door I think, but it appeared to be okay. I couldn't open the door again without running it over, and pondered what I should do about the little guy. I mean clearly he was still alive, and kinda cute. So I went into the kitchen and grabbed a wide glass cup to put over him. I dragged the cup along the edge of the floor, and he made squeaky sounds and hopped along with it. I was as scared of him as he was of me. Once he was out of the way of the door I woke up Casey and told him I'd caught a bat!!! he got up and brought a thin book and we took a picture of me and the little bat under the cup to document the adventure before sliding the book under the cup. He hopped on it, and was actually pretty lively and cute. We carried him outside where we set him by the tree. He flew away just fine, though he was probably upset by the daylight and the cold. Hope he's ok. I CAUGHT A BAT! And I didn't freak out like some wimpy girl. Go me!
Before we left we slow swing danced in his room to "As Lovers Go" by Dashboard Confessional. It was realllllly nice and made me incredibly happy. He knows just how to make me smile.
Casey and I then grabbed granola bars and headed back to Mt. Vernon. It was hard for me to get out of the car when he dropped me off, but he managed to leave eventually, and I printed off my homework and got to lunch, CSSG (I can NOT believe some people had a problem with enacting the new Service aspect of the constitution that requires 16 hours a year per person rather than the previous 9. "Some people have already planned out their schedules for the year and just can't fit in the extra hours" um. that's crap. I did 40 a semester at Carmel, suck it up it's NOT hard.), and class, which was good today. People weren't very talkative. I hope I don't talk too much. Sammi, tell me if I'm that person in class that talks too much.
Today I spent a good amount of time hanging out with Dan and Julia, to be joined by Sammi and Josh as well. I AM SO MAD THAT BEAUTY AND THE GEEK THREE WASN'T ON BECAUSE OF SPORTS! GAH! I swore a lot at the college basketball. And then we hung out and ate cookies. One of my resolutions was to make more time for my friends, which I did today. I also hung out with heather and read in KRNL while she had office hours.
*I think this is going to be a great year.
*I wonder what Casey's Friday Surprise will be. He said he's bringing a camera... wha?
*I don't know that I'm going to succeed on my resolution to be nicer and less judgemental though. But I'm gonna remember to work on that.
*I think the "Hello Love" Hello Kitty sticker that Julia gave me is adorable.
*I love that my LJ book arrived!!! Mmm tangible entries.
*I wish my phone and present from Japan would come. Mom said she had to resend it today because it got sent back to her.
*There's a lot of pottery in my room. It really ticks me off that some of my glazes are too thin. I realy wish some of these oxides had come out well. Darn. Oh Well, now I know!
*I'm part bloodhound. I smelled something delicious on the horizon (aka the air outside my room) and wanted beef stew. Julia said she thought it was on the menu actually. it WAS, and was delicious. MMmmm beef stew.
