“I’m not sure what this is, but Diana said it was good,” Julius said to Octavian as he walked into the dining room.
Octavian took the plate offered to him. “It is good. I’ve had it when I was with Father in Egypt.”
Julius scowled. “I don’t like it when you and Caesar go off to that place.”
Octavian took Julius’ hand. “I know, but we have to if we want to have a better Empire.”
“Brutus hates it especially.”
“That I do know. Father tries to reassure him, but it doesn’t always work.”
“Well, Cleopatra is beautiful and smart. Brutus is just insecure. So am I.”
“Why Julius?”
Julius shrugged and took a bite of his food. He moaned. “This is delicious!”
Octavian smiled. “You think everything is delicious.”
“Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean anything,” Julius replied indignantly.
“Of course not.”
“Humph. When do you leave again?”
Octavian kissed Julius. “Not for a long time.”
