I got off of work at 11:00am today :) I went in with all intentions of working a full 8-hour day. But I was just so unproductive, and it's a bit of a slow point in the workflow right now. Plus, I gave them a free 10 hours last week...no paid overtime....so they owed this to me :) It was funny - I bet my director was just waiting for me to ask to go home. I checked in with him 2 times and kept going back to work...and then I was like, "If there are no pressing deadlines this afternoon would it be okay with you if..." and he said, "Go home and pack, happy birthday, have a great time!"
I walked out to my car, took off my coat, took off my socks and shoes and put on my flip-flops...and bam, I'm on vacation :)
Then I called my sister :) And then I got a pedicure (my third one in my lifetime...all three have been received since I moved to California this year - and now they are my little treat to myself...even though I still feel like I can do it just as well myself - it's the pampering :) I then proceeded to get a few last minute items that I needed...you know, travel stuff-n-stuff...and then I came home and packed. I haven't tried to pick up the suitcase yet, but I have a feeling I'm bringing too much. Oh well - it's all good.
I feel like I have what I need and now I just want to clean my apartment. It's always nice to come home to a clean apartment after being away for a week. Funny how it takes me going on vacation to actually clean :)
I had a pleasant drive home today in the middle of the day...I was driving through Griffith Park and they have this neat set-up in the process. I guess there's a mini festival of lights type of thing. I think that will be my new route home every night...driving through the lights. I wonder when they turn them on? It will be magical and put me in the holiday mood... :) I swear, this time of year just accelerates into full speed. It's Halloween for 2 seconds and then BOOM eat your turkey, spend your money on gifts and travel, cram in tons of family and friend time and then happy new year! I do like this time of year though...
Last year at this time I was headed to New York City with my mom for my birthday. That was such a great weekend. I remember eating at this great restaurant in the west village and then going to this little cupcake shop where the line was out the door...mmmmm...my sweet tooth was satisfied with that cupcake :)
Maybe I'll pack a candle to be sure that I can make a wish on my birthday :)
hawaii here I come!
