The bad:
1. The sky is pissing ice.
2. I have a 30-minute script treatment due in on Tuesday and a 3000-word essay due in on Friday.
2b. I was meant to find a particular book on Thursday and email my lecturer with the introduction for said 3000-word essay so he could approve it, but while the library swore it was in, I couldn't find the damn thing.
3. The house is a tip.
The good:
1. The library has, in fact, found the book for me.
2. Also, the copy of World War Z I ordered at Borders is finally in.
3. I won a pair of second-hand rollerskates on TradeMe, plus I found cheap wristguards, and we're going skating again this afternoon.
4. I went to a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Embassy last night, and it was awesome - a sea of curly wigs, ruffled aprons, glittery hats, gold lame go-go boots and large, hairy men in corsets and stockings. I don't envy the poor bastards who had to clean up all the toilet paper, toast and confetti, though.
The relative:
I explained the bad to my parents, and they regaled me with the hilarious adventures of not having water for three days. Seems like a major pipe blew in the sticks of Nizwa, so everyone had to buy a few dozen 1.5 litre bottles of water and wash, cook and clean with that. My mother let me know the horrifying fact of how much water it takes to flush a toilet once (approximately three of those 1.5 litre bottles), and that they, naturally, hadn't been able to do any damn laundry. Thankfully, just as my mum was happily telling me about how her garden's going, a water truck pulled up to fill the tank on their roof. Yay!
Talking to my parents: a good way to make me shut up about how haaaaaaard my life is.
