Scratch the earlier enthusiasm. My parents aren't flying to Nizwa today, because the Omani authorities are still holding up their visas. Apparently the university has forty other people in exactly the same position. I can't even wrap my head around that. It's just... what? Why the... what?
In similarly bleak news, I've got 38 cents in my bank account, and we have an electricity bill due on the 2nd. I've got a little money coming - $200, pretty much what my parents can spare at the moment - but it's going to take a little while to get here, most likely the day the bill is due. In the meantime, I've got half a loaf of bread, a fifth of a bag of oven chips, and some three-day-old casseroled vegetables. Yay.
The silver linings are 1) Sas is home (yay, company!) and 2) my new boss called to tell me that after the job I just got I will have another one-off job, and if it goes well, possibly more after that. Though, uh, the job for next weekend has actually been pushed back to the week after that, which is the first week back at uni, which means I won't be able to do most of one day... but still! A job!
