Oh, God, worst day ever. Okay, that's hyperbole - worst day in a long time, with lots of pain and tiredness and not having my computer OMG.

I woke up this morning and turned on my laptop, and it whirred and beeped and lit up but the screen stayed black. This happened yesterday morning too, but after restarting it a few times it was fine. No such luck today - I restarted it about 16 times, hoping for a different result each time, and... nada. Oh God. I walked around town for about two hours looking for an IT service place, and couldn't find any. So I went up to campus, in the hope that the ITS desk in the library could help me - they were, in fact, about as helpful as a cock-flavoured lollypop not very helpful thing. So I headed up to Fairlie Terrace to try and find Tim the Film lecturer and ask him what the department's policy on late submission was.

Oh, hey, didn't I say? I have an essay due tomorrow.

I didn't find Tim - by this time, he was on his lunch break, and I had to go to class. However, a stern but helpful lady told me about a computer place in the Cotton building that might help me, and lo and behold, about a hundred metres from the library was a place with a very nice man who took the laptop away from me and said he'd call me in the morning. Christ.

Okay, so, I've had a bad ankle for about nine months, right? I sprained it, didn't really realise why it hurt for about two months, and have walked around with a sometimes-bandage ever since. I've been meaning to get it seen to for while because lately it's been getting worse instead of better, but apparently, walking around for four hours over many hills, carrying a computer, was enough to really fuck it up. Sas was sympathetic, but also kind of gleeful because she's convinced I've gotten some of her bad luck. Also, she called me gimpy. She did point the way to the Student Health centre, though, so I made an appointment for Monday and kind of forgave her.

I looked for Tim again and still didn't find him, but I ran into Jeremy on the way home, who cheered me up with a story about how he accidently knocked over the crazy street preacher while skipping down the road, which cheered me up somewhat.

Anyway, now I'm home, hogging Lindsey's computer, and I have to e-mail Tim and hope for an extension. Mostly, I just hope my laptop's okay.

sickness, friends, computery stuff, university
