béguin (bay gan'), noun.
1. flirtation.
2. a. infatuation; b. the object of the infatuation

Etymology:  French for "bonnet", and also "crush" (as in s'embéguiner, to "wear a bonnet" for someone)
Seems it's not actually related to "beguile", whose original meaning was closer to "trick" or "deceive".

One wants to tie béguin to the beguine dance (as in Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine"), but alas they seem to be unrelated words. Tho' I'm sure a beguine can be a béguin.
