I work for an attorney who does estate planning and probate. Trust me, having kids, even multiple kids, is absolutely no guarantee that there will be someone to take care of you in your old age.
I can't imagine the extra pressure religion would bring. But people who want kids have no idea the kind of pressure (subtle and overt) people who don't want kids face.
I liked the initial idea of building her into a BAMF but then it got all rapey and protective. Because of course you wouldn't want to identify with that character you'd just want to protect her. You know, like all those video games where you start off as an underpowered guy and become heroic where you don't identify with that character you just want to protect him. Right?
If a male super hero was captured by villians, wouldn't it be just as an effective method of punishment/torture/fuckupedness?
Apparently that does happen but with gay superheroes who are brutally raped then horribly killed. I'm hoping the new gay superheroes they're introducing won't have to go through that.
