we ate at a place called "chat n chew" in union square. you can take the subway there and walk across the park and it is down the alley...but not a creepy one. the best homecooked food. and there is a phenominal store right down the way, whose name has slipped my mind.
walk through central park. there is a zoo there that i think is $8 bucks for an adult.
jackie, i think you would love the metropolitan museum of art which, if you go to central park, you should visit the same day since it is next to it at the far end. they have these amazing indoor gardens and some of the most spectacular art exhibits i have ever seen. but if you go, you can not see it in 4 hours, let me tell you that much. :) the museum is huge and amazing. i basically know you would love it.
grand central station is amazing too and about 3 blocks from 5th ave. you can walk from grand central to 5th ave to central park. it takes about 30 min or more depending on how often you stop or how hot it is. but there are some amazing finds there. even if you only look through the windows.
and i hope that you have an amazing birthday jackie my love. may your day be full of laughter and smiles. and have a splended time in new york.
ps.. to go all the way up the empire state building it is something like $16+...that is all i remember since i didn't go up. heh.
