Fandom: Tales of Symphonia
Pairing: Zelos Wilder x Kratos Aurion
Theme set: Alpha
Rating: PG~R. Rated for some really bad innuendoes and well... secs. D:
Notes: Spoilers, there are.
Beta now up as well. It's strongly suggested to read it before Alpha... -sweats-
I now realize how bad some of these are, but there are still SOME that are presentable... >_>; But hey, how often do you see this pairing?
#01 - Comfort
Why did it feel so good every time they sparred?
#02 - Kiss
The funny thing with Zelos, Kratos concluded, was that he tries biting his tongue off half the time when they kiss; perhaps that’s his way of telling him that “I might trust you now, but you’d be sorely mistaken if you thought things will be much easier that starting from now on.”
#03 - Soft
It was nice to know that the rich crimson sheets weren’t the only things in his bed that felt warm and kept him secure at night.
#04 - Pain
He clearly recalls the emptiness left on the day of his mother’s murder and the fill shimmering blue wings provided when an actual ANGEL descended upon him; but he also finds it hard to forget the void that was created the day when it left him supposedly forever.
#05 - Potatoes
“Potatoes don’t replace tomatoes in spaghetti, honey,” he chirped cheerfully, purposely ignoring the death glares as they mercilessly assaulted the back of his pretty red head.
#06 - Rain
It was rainy when he told Kratos bluntly he disliked him; ironic, considering how it was also rainy when he finally admitted that he needed him.
#07 - Chocolate
Kratos wasn’t fond of sweets and never really understood why chocolate was so popular, the reason why one evening, a richly ornamented box in hands, Zelos decided to - for once - teach HIM the full extend of the delectable substance’s destructive powers.
#08 - Happiness
It was because they knew sorrow so well that both appreciated happiness so much as they stood silently in a corner, watching the blissfully ignorant party chitchat and laugh about mundane matters.
#09 - Telephone
“If Yuan made it, I’m not touching it,” the redhead declared indignantly as he tried his best to ignore Kratos’ questioning look, unconsciously giving in to suspicions that held no ground whatsoever.
#10 - Ears
“Are you sure you don’t want me to try them out?” Zelos asked, waving the Altamirian waitress bunny ears before exploding into laughter while a stiff Kratos fumed silently in the corner.
#11 - Name
On the surface, Strength and Passion are the exact terms their companions would use to describe them; underneath, however, they are also the exact element both lack most… until they found it in each other.
#12 - Sensual
Kratos finds himself seriously reconsidering the “choice” he made when he finally gave in to Zelos’ nagging for a few drinks, thought as of now, it was getting increasingly harder for him to retort- not to mention think straight and breathe - as nimble hands slid past his waistband and devilish sapphire eyes twinkled in the dark mischievously.
#13 - Death
Seeing the inert and stained figure at the base of the Tower of Salvation only strengthened his resolve, as he flew over Treant Forest, to sooner embrace his own damnation.
#14 - Sex
Taking in account the painful memories it triggered and the circumstances under which the act was last committed, Zelos understood Kratos’ reluctance; but he was also fully prepared to wait - and help out - until the day when the Seraph will finally get over.
#15 - Touch
They both knew that he had no need whatsoever to touch him in order to affect him; Zelos already twitches every time he feels Kratos’ piercing eyes on him.
#16 - Weakness
The reason why he knew his weakness so well was because it was near identical to his own.
#17 - Tears
How did he end up sobbing like the broken-hearted child he never got to be in the arms of one which he disliked the most?
#18 - Speed
No matter how much faster Zelos truly was compared to Kratos, it still wasn’t enough to beat him amidst dirt and trees under the sun - nor amidst velvet and silk under the moon.
#19 - Wind
He would watch subtly as the wind ran past the boy’s pale face, sending the ruby curls flying as they cleared away from his darkened eyes and tear-dried cheeks; and only then would he finally begin to see the difference between collective suffering and individual misery.
#20 - Freedom
If both were free to go anywhere they want, then why did they always felt so powerlessly trapped no matter where they are?
#21 - Life
Lloyd taught both its principle, though they only found the reason to pursue it, after all they’ve been through, within the other.
#22 - Jealousy
It always ends pissing him off when Kratos displays nothing but sheer indifference facing the fact that Zelos still hangs out with his groupies, but he’d rather die again before admitting it as he broods over why his strategy isn’t working, or why the older man always had that irritatingly smug smirk every time he makes the mention.
#23 - Hands
With hands that handled swords for countless of centuries, he was still pleasantly surprised to find them still so warm and soft against his cheek.
#24 - Taste
Losing to Kratos is bitter, then why was it even more so when he finally left for good for Derris-Kharlan forever?
#25 - Devotion
They both believed to have lost their devotions when they lost the ones they loved; but apparently, you can’t really lose it as long as Time and Fate itself still had a say in it.
#26 - Forever
Zelos hated him despite being fully aware that nothing lasts forever; and while that revealed to be true, he still believed that Kratos will remain - no matter how much support he found in him - an arrogant asshat SOB to Zelos, and only Zelos, forever.
#27 - Blood
Zelos felt strangely hollow as he raised his hand after running his fingers across the soft yet moist crimson-marred cheek; was the color darker than his own ruby curls, or was it lighter than these auburn locks?
#28 - Sickness
If he made it public and obvious that his opinion on Kratos wasn’t all that high, then why did he suggest an early stop to the whole party when he noticed that he wasn’t looking well?
#29 - Melody
“I am fully aware that you possess a beautiful voice, love, but a songbird wouldn’t sound so sweet if it was to start croaking, now would it?” he would reply with a whimsical smirk, and Zelos would remember just exactly why he hated Kratos all over again.
#30 - Star
He never really understood why Kratos was so fond of stargazing, but that certainly didn’t stop him from doing the same on these quiet and soothing nights in the older man’s company.
#31 - Home
He never felt home in his room; he felt home wherever they went.
#32 - Confusion
Zelos always ends up hurting his own head every time he tries to make out just WHAT made the line between Love and Hate so thin in order to have him so easily - and unknowingly - crossed it over.
#33 - Fear
He feared affection because he was convinced it was artificial, and he feared it because he was certain he’d fail to protect the ones he would grow to love; but in the end, might it be the selfsame fear that drove and forced them to take a hesitant but firm first step together?
#34 - Lightning/Thunder
Excalibur wasn’t the only sword that made him flinch, and Super Lightning Blade wasn’t the only tech that sent bolts of thunder down his spine.
#35 - Bonds
Zelos always found the details on his Cruxis uniform “exotic”, as upset as Kratos gets every time he shamelessly experiments with the full potential given by a few dozen belts, and takes advantage of every single last one of them.
#36 - Market
Zelos would follow Kratos docilely to the local Armory, though the same cannot be said for Kratos as Zelos drags him to the local “kink shop” more or less involuntarily.
#37 - Technology
Electric light was more practicable, though Kratos might have an idea why Zelos still preferred the warm blaze of a merry fire… or the suggestive glow of a subtle candle.
#38 - Gift
Funny how he laughed at poor Genis so when the little mage was all confused in what to give Presea; funnier how a year later, he found himself in the same situation as he wondered just what in Derris-Kharlan someone like Kratos would want.
#39 - Smile
He rarely TRULY smiled, probably the reason why it left an impression so deep that as hard as he might try, it soon became impossible to forget.
#40 - Innocence
Zelos always found it extremely hilarious on how ignorant someone of Kratos’ age could be sometimes, but that might also have something to do with the fact that his innuendos were purposely obscure and extremely bad, not to mention that Kratos probably didn’t think about these things as much as Zelos always had ever since he first managed to get the Seraph flustered.
#41 - Completion
Personality-wise, they were absolute opposites; History-wise, not that many similarities either; but if that is the case, then was it only because their thoughts and failings were so much the same that made them, as two clearly different jigsaw pieces would, click so strangely well with the other?
#42 - Clouds
There was nothing else Kratos could do but shift his sword and smirk as the clouds of dust rolled away, revealing a charging Zelos, fully intent on trying to take him down.
#43 - Sky
Kratos first offered to fly with him when Zelos couldn’t sleep and he loved the experience; though now, he wasn’t sure what he liked best: feeling the indescribable sense of freedom as he soared with the winds or the certainty that these blue wings will be always there to guide him no matter of the sky’s color.
#44 - Heaven
They both believed that no such things were Heaven or Hell despite knowing where they would go even if it did; but that did not stop them from feeling so indifferent as they idly strolled past the corridors of Welgaia, supposedly labeled Heaven by the rest of the Worlds.
#45 - Hell
They might not believe in legends, such as one dictating that Angels come from Heaven; but even if legends were real, Fallen Angels still go to Hell.
#46 - Sun
Despite his cold and closed demeanor, Zelos always imagined his gaze to be as far and yet fiery as the sun; it detached itself by the intangible emptiness of galaxies, but it also burned piercingly under the morning sky.
#47 - Moon
Despite his warm and outgoing exterior, Kratos always pictured his gaze to be as fleeting and yet clear as the moon; it hid behind the jet-black shadow of clouds, but it also shone magnificently under the crystalline stars.
#48 - Waves
Zelos couldn’t hear anything: all he knew was that his mask was finally shattered as waves of uncontrollable rage, sorrow and despair drove him onwards to raise his blade and fight - until he could no longer stand - against the unmoving figure in front of him that, unbeknownst to him, voluntarily took up the post to be his catalyst in order to remove his grudge against Fate and quench his rotting anger.
#49 - Hair
“We are on a battlefield, not a beauty pageant; how do YOU fight with yours flapping all over your face and shoulder?” he would retort every time Zelos bothers HIM about his own ridiculously large bangs, and then they would be even.
#50 - Supernova
“I’m beyond Casanova; I’m a Supernova,” he would declare vainly as he strikes a pose and flips his hair, only to have his grin turn into an adorable pout as the other sighs in resignation before beginning to chuckle softly and ruffle his hair playfully.
