Stop! Save those Coffee Grinds!

Why you may ask? Well if you are a green thumb 'wanna be' like myself, they can come quite in handy. Lets think about this for a moment.. Okay so have you ever drank coffee on an empty stomach, and your stomach hurts. Well that is because of the acidic level coffee holds. Flowers such as hydrangeas, can even change color (blue). This is due to the pH reduction level of the soil. Coffee grounds in your soil also means no extra unnecessary critters in your garden (snails, slugs and other bugs). This is because they dislike the acidity. Did you know that mixing coffee grinds in with soil is extremely beneficial. Especially when planting carrot and radish seeds not only increases harvest, but also keeps unwanted pests away. Oh no what about the worms!? Don't sweat it! Coffee grinds actually attract worms! Worms are great for gardens in that they fertilize and turn the soil just being there squirmy selves, doing there worm thing. Coffee grinds are also compost friendly. Especially because of the nitrogen content they offer to the mix. If you live near snow, coffee grounds are a great natural alternative to gravel. The grinds melt ice quicker because of their acidic complex and give texture to the path preventing a nasty fall! Coffee grinds can actually save your life, and your just throwing them away! How dare you! Bad. No.

coffee grinds, green, recycle, coffee, go green, reuse
