I brought Rosie home yesterday, and she did quite well here. Leaving her foster home, she walked right into the car. Once in the car, she put sat in my lap and looked out the window the entire way home. Once home, I walked her on her leash around the back yard for a while. Due to the humid Kentucky summer days, which make being outside miseralbe, we didn't stay outside too long. I kept her on the leash as we walked toured every room of the house. One of the reasons I kept her on the leash was because of the 2 cats we have inside. She didn't pay them attention while they puffed their tails and hissed, so I soon let her run around without the leash.
She's not eaten much, probably due to excitement and being nervous, but she's drank plenty of water. She was used to just going outside and running around when she needed to potty, but she did pee for me while on the cat's tie out, so I think she'll be fine. I didn't quite make it to the back door in time to let her out this morning, so I had to clean up a mess, but she made it obvious that she knew to go to the back door when she needed to go.
Right now she's on the couch with Patches(the calico cat). One is on the edge of the far right cushion and the other is on the left side of the middle cushion. Both are being peaceful, so I think they'll eventually get along to the point of where they play together. Butterscotch(a Maine Coon cat, which is a lovely breed of cat) doesn't seem to mind him much, he even went and sniffed her while she was sleeping yesterday. I think he'll also eventually play well with her. We always joke that Butterscotch is part dog because he likes to play fetch, but that's something that all Maine Coons do. Anyways, he has tried to get into the sealed bag of dog food. I've also caught him eating out of the Rosie's bowl about 3 times now. Maybe he is part dog after all.
Going back to Rosie now. She's mostly a brown Rat Terrier Mix, with some Jack Russell Terrier in her, and no telling what else. She's also got some black and white in her fur, which is more of a rough texture. Her tail is a bit more of a stub than other Rat Terriers that I have seen. Looking from the back of it, it looks like a tail you'd see on a deer. She likes to keep one ear up, one ear folded down. She doesn't bark a lot, and loves to give kisses. She's a couple of months over 2 years old now, and came to me already spoiled. I'll try to get some pictures up soon if I can find my parent's digital camera. I'm fixing to take her walking or something, she's being too lazy today.
