Cultural Diversity II
I felt compelled to clarify my last entry, should anyone read it and think I am a xenophobe who wraps herself in the flag. I welcome any legal immigrant who comes to the U.S. offering goods and services. The majority I have had the pleasure of patronizing provide above average service. I consider these folks, who are of all colors, creeds, religions, ethnic backgrounds treasures. When they see me coming, the doors are always thrown wide open and I receive first class treatment-mainly because I don't expect it. I tip well even though I'm not making great money right now, because I know what goes around eventually comes around in some way shape or form.
That being said, there is a dark side I am seeing on the front lines and perhaps this will be a head's up for anyone bothering to read this. I'm going to address this in first person and describe an arrest I had over the weekend to illustrate that American's are getting sick of a certain type of behavioral entitlement to immigrants/foreign nationals here.
So sorry, Mr. Nigerian, that you lost the high paying engineering job you held for such a long time here-you even got yourself a social security number and a Michigan driver's license. But now you are losing your slice of the American dream, one that was never even offered to me to begin with. Now you are a stockboy for Meijer Thrifty Acres and feel that job is beneath you. Now you have fallen back to your culture of manliness which states you do not have to answer to a woman under any circumstance, since women are inferior. And you have a chip on your shoulder towards all Americans now, I've seen it before. Now, here in America, you shall obey the instructions of airline employees, no matter what sex they may be. You sound off when asked what you're doing and if they don't like your answer, you will bear the consequences. When the police are called, you shall comply with our commands and orders, no matter the sex, race or age of the officer in charge. You were humiliated in front of everyone after having been given no less than four (4) times to just walk away. You lied when you said you had no money to get home. You lied when you said you were not drunk. It is all in the report. ICE has been notified of your suspicious behavior and you will be watched from here on out. I pinged your information all around the world and even if dismissed, your arrest record, mug shot and prints will show on any background check. When the economy picks up and you get job interviews but will not get a call back-I made sure this will stick with you like herpes-the gift that keeps on giving. Hope it was worth it!
