MMmWWWWWHHHHHAAAAHHHAAAA....The last time they tried this class was in 1999 or 2000, when the State of Michigan EEO folks came in, telling us how WE had to assimilate to the culture of those who crossed our paths (when you cross the path of uniformed police officers, especially one as unmotivated as we, you have really fucked up). I came in late of course, because one of the biggest mind games the lieutenant (a female) loved to play was to put my training days in the middle of my work week (I worked 4pm to midnight). The most senior useless state puke took offense to this and kept picking at me, as I ignored her while filling myself with coffee and doughnuts.
She finally crossed the line when she told us it was legally required that we bend over and kiss the asses of those who don't speak/read/write/understand English. I rose up and told her of my grandmothers and their families coming to the U.S. and considering it a privilege and duty to learn how to read, write and speak English. I told her of my maternal grandmother and family, who fled Russia because they were czarists (White Russians) and in the formation of the communist revolution how her father and grandfather were seized, sentenced by a kangaroo court and shipped to Siberia to die in hard labor camps. I especially pointed out how grateful they were to assimilate here.
You would have thought I'd detonated a bomb in that room. Everyone exploded and began verbally attacking those State of Michigan office rats. I just sat down and continued munching serenely on my doughnuts, while my command looked at me like I was Beelzebub rose up fresh and stinking of sulfur. Then during break, I took those folks to task for not having helped me when I had proof of being sexually discriminated against while working for my former department. And how they allowed a retaliatory, totally false allegation to be used against me. To my understanding, they canceled the following week's class and never came back............Today should be interesting, to my knowledge this is the first time they've attempted this class since then (evil chuckles from me).
