For possibly the first time in my adult life, I am officially out of credit card debt.  It's been a long struggle, and it often felt like I was owned by these companies.  Back in 2004, coming off 10 months of unemployment, I was over $14K in the hole to my cards and not sure if or how I would ever dig myself out of that hole.  One card had a 25.9% ( Read more... )

$14k with one card that had 25% annual??? sheeit, that reminds me of a problem we did in our linear programming class where we had to help madonna get out of debt at various dept. stores (I won't go into the details, but it was ugly)

Wow, right on. I squandered my inheritance on credit card debt and have never looked back. It is so nice to not be in the thrall of the evil creditors.

Congratulations! Here's to no more credit card debt again!

I suggest cutting them up and getting a debit card, honestly...credit cards just aren't worth the temptation.

what sucks is they're the easiest way to establish credit and thus be elligible to buy a house :/

That's true, I forgot about building credit...

Credit card companies are just so scummy...my friend was a day late paying his bill (and he paid on time every singe other payment) and they upped his interest rate to a very high number. Ugh.
