For possibly the first time in my adult life, I am officially out of credit card debt. It's been a long struggle, and it often felt like I was owned by these companies. Back in 2004, coming off 10 months of unemployment, I was over $14K in the hole to my cards and not sure if or how I would ever dig myself out of that hole. One card had a 25.9% APR.
The feeling of freedom hasn't quite had time to sink in yet, but I think when I get a non-rent paycheck and actually get to keep most of it, then I will feel like I own myself again.
