But the guilty look that flashes across Harry's face sends a twinge of guilt to run down Louis' spine, and even though he's annoyed - he can't stomach that look, so he turns on his heel and starts stalking away, his bare feet smacking loudly against the cold wood floor.
"Lou...come on, come back," Harry calls pathetically, and Louis can actually /hear/ the desperation in his voice. Or maybe that's longing. Or regret. Louis really doesn't want to think about it. But for some reason, he does stop. "What, Harry?"
Oh dear. That contained far more venom than intended, and Louis is looking back up at Harry and oh, he's stood up from his chair as well, and he's pulling his bomber jacket on. He's also got that awful, closed off, expressionless mask on that he's adopted recently, and Louis hates it so. It's the first time he's used it outside of an interview or meeting.
Louis meets Harry's eyes, which are closed off to the world and have that distant look in them. "I'm going for a walk," Harry says formally, zipping up the jacket that Louis had bought him last Christmas.
Harry's shoving his hands in the pockets and striding past Louis, ignoring the pleading noise Louis makes, and Louis turns again and watches him leave that flat.
The trickle of guilt suddenly turned into white rage at the younger boy, and Louis stalked back to the breakfast table and kicked Harry's empty chair, watching the ornate chair that Harry had begged Louis to buy clatter to the floor, cracking one of its legs.
