Heh, this was excellent. That is no sixteen-year-old boy on the cover, though - that's the evil guy from a really low-budget action film.

I did read this book once, and all I remembered from it is Liz and the recorder. Who the hell takes up the recorder at sixteen?

"Who the hell takes up the recorder at sixteen?"

Loser status confirmed. ;)

I... um... took it up at 23. But only for about 2 months. I could play Greensleaves really badly. I also took an acting class. I was in a "Try Weird New Things You'd Never Normally Do" and I couldn't afford a guitar or piano lessons.

But that doesn't mean my loser status ain't confirmed, btw. :)

Whoops, my bad! I guess I should be more careful about who/what I diss. But you gotta admit - St. Liz + recorder = LOL. It's the image of a blonde girl with barrettes in her hair sitting down to practice an instrument I played in sixth grade ... oh, lordy.

Dude, diss away! I'll happily admit, I'm as loserish as Liz in my own special nonWakefieldian ways!

I'm actually thinking of re-taking it up at 40. But in my feeble defense, I first learned it when I was about 8.
