Todd is “so funny, so kind, and so clever.”
BWAH! I defy you to find me one instance when he was any one of these things!

Also, I don't believe Bruce suggested a tug-of-war. Not my Bruce. He'd suggest an attempted-rape-off or a I-can-buy-and-sell-you off. Whatever.

Does Todd's cheer have magical powers or something? I don't see how that made them win.

But tug-of-war is a metaphor for Bruce's struggle with the Asswipe Within.

And, uh, Todd's cheer is a metaphor for his connection to Sweet Valley despite the changes in his life.

HOW LONG WAS HE GONE???? I'm going to say three months. I hate Sweet Valley Time (except Rape O'Clock).

Who doesn't love Rape O'Clock? lulz.

There are only 365 days in a year, if we include summer. And there are 143 Sweet Valley High books (and this does NOT include special editions). That means each book should take about two and a half days. So Todd should've been gone for about 88 days. (Almost three months.)

Howev, if we include special editions is over 180 books, so not even 2 days a book. So that would be 69 days, or just over two months.

Some of that makes sense, because there are things going on with other characters that might be able to overlap with what the twins are doing, except that I refuse to believe that Liz originally dated Todd as long as she was dating Jeffrey. I REFUSE.

(Also, it would never work because there are always two-parties-in-two-weekends going on in every book.)

Blargh.

I don't have time to read this now, but can I just say how incredibly DUMB the supposed "geniuses" are for not getting the water question right away? Actual boiling point with the unit changed? Come ON. I'm no genius and if someone had asked me if, like, water boils at 100 degrees Fahrenheit at any point after 3-4th form science, I would have got it in about half a second. It's not rocket science.

HOW MANY FREAKIN' PRIVATE SCHOOLS DOES ONE COMMUNITY NEED?!

I swear, I think there are more private high schools in Sweet Valley than in Beverly Hills and surrounding environs.

To be fair, they did say it was "an hour drive away."

But yeah, I am with you. Whenever it is time for an "enemy school" either break out Big Mesa, Palisades, or invent yet another private school. There were supposedly 10 teams in the competition which means at least 10 schools.

In defense of ghost writer, this book actually had a little bit of continuity. Lowett Academy is mentioned in at least two books before this (even if I don't know in which order they were written). In "Lila's Secret Valentine", Justin goes to Lowett. And in one of the unicorn books it is stated that Belinda Layton moved away to go to Lowett.
