Well, first I went for the dictionary (on a nearby table). Then I was going to go for the College Handbook of some sort (no lie, it's here), but decided not to. Then I went for Animal Farm.
And Boxer's stall was empty.
The animals crowded around the van. "Good-bye, Boxer!" they chorused, "good-bye!"
"Fools, fools!" shouted Benjamin, prancing round them and stamping the earth with his small hoofs. "Fools! Do you not see what is written on the side of that van?"
