Servants heart(really long but read it its worth it)
OK. . .so my sis is kinda making me do all this but she put up an argument that I cant refuse. . . so I am succuming to per pressure and well now i have a flippin journal! hehe j/k but for real I have always thought these things are so dumb, but when my sis said "hey you should start writing about God so all your camp kids and my friends can read it" I was like well if you put it that way your smarter than you look! j/k i love my sis but anyways. . . well i thought it would be a ahile b/f God really laid anything on my heart to put on here but last night He woke me up at like 3am and was making it clear I need to stress the importance of having a servants heart. So thats what Im gonna do. . . OK so first of all the actual definition of a servant is 1) somebody who serves another 2) somebody working for public. . . While we all tend to look down on the word servant thinking that they are slaves and are made to work for us. .. or you may think you are your parents personal servant when they make you clean your room and various things like that. . . but the actual definition gives us a new perspective, tying the two definitions together into " someone who serves another in public" now i dont mean shout from the roof tops b/c you helped another, I mean just to help all those in society not just the people YOU like. also in the thesarus (yes i know im a nerd) anyways it gives some word similar to the word servat which are:attendant, helper, and dependent, all of these describe who we should be! In Ephesians 6:7 the apostle pauls writes:
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,
so I encourage all of you to drop the pride and realize arguing is not going to do you any good, and if it does get you out of the task you were weazeling out of then you are NOT serving the Lord! its that simple Paul says it best about how we should always act like everything that we are doing we are doing it soley for God and to glorify him! So when your mom says "clean your room" just do it! it sounds sucky but who cares your reward is in heaven not here!
Matthew 25:35-45
35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
I find these ten verses life changing! do you want to be held in the first or the second group of people mention in this chapter? i think it is great that it doesnt say "what ever you did for the people you chose to help or just the ones you like or just the ones you could pat yourself on the back for" no its says whatever you did for the least of the "brother" you did for Jesus! that brings tears to my eyes all i have to do to give glory to my lord and savior is to shut my mouth and do what is asked of me without complaining! and to go a step out of my way to help anyone in need. . . what is that step really worth in eternity. . .we look at everything on earthly terms and that step messes everything up whether it made you miss your fav show, or made you get off the phone 5 min early with your friend, or simply messed up your entire days plans. well did ever think that maybe if you would have helped whoever it is that you felt God pressing on your heart that maybe you wouldnt have gotten in that wreck or something God would have prevented had you listened to him and done what he had asked. . . Now serving doesnt have to be life altering at all times it could be as simple as being nice to the check out lady when your not having a good day. . . or just smiling at someone walking down the road. . . you dont know how that could change someones day! but makes sure next time you dont feel like doing something. .. just do it! God will reward you ten folds in heaven for it b/c he knows humanly you didnt feel like doing it but you did not b/c you wanted to but b/c you love him and want him to know that through you loving ALL of his creation!!!!!!!
