This one matters. Well, to me, at least.

Today's an off-day, so there's not much to report on the big club front. The Minor League affiliates will be playing today, though, and Mike Timlin is scheduled to be the starter in Pawtucket - so it's worth keeping up with. You can access the Gameday Audio on MiLB.com for free - you just need to sign up, but it won't cost you anything.

I spent last night watching the Chicago-Detroit game. That meant that I got to see this fellow here. It was during one of his at-bats, too, that ESPN decided to mention the final score of the Stanford-UConn game, if I recall correctly. Carlos decided to have a nice night at the plate, as well - although in the ninth inning, he did almost hit himself in the face trying to catch a pop fly. (I'm sure Donny is amused.)

Since everything seems to be coming up roses for Stanford right now, the fact that their baseball team plays Cal today for the first official conference matchup between the two teams is quite exciting, especially given that Cal won the first time they played this season (in non-conference play). Cal actually leads the Pac-10 in conference play right now (with ASU and Stanford tied for second - yes, ASU isn't winning! I'm stunned, too), but it's still pretty early and everyone has plenty of time to catch up. (The season's roughly halfway through already, actually - but that doesn't mean someone can't get on a hot streak.)

All I can say about today's game, though - this:

baseball: tigers, baseball: off-day, baseball, college baseball: stanford, college baseball: pac-12 kids haul ass, baseball: white sox
