Right, everyone's doing this meme, so I might as well jump on the bandwagon, which in my case is probably a cramped Minor League bus. I'm not much of a fangirl - I try to look at players as just that, players, first - but I am not immune to playing favorites. I'm not ranking these people, but the first one listed is the first one in my mind. And you all know that, I know.
Ten (10) athletes baseball players rookies and/or prospects I would not kick out of bed:
1. Jed Carlson Lowrie: I know, you all saw it coming. But I have reasons, see. Many people tend to go for...well, something different - people like, say, Jacoby Ellsbury (whose attractiveness I cannot and will not deny), or perhaps Jonathan Papelbon or Josh Beckett. What I love about Jed is that he's not exactly what appears to be the so-called 'fangirl ideal.' It's the little things, like the way he says his biggest accomplishment in life was getting into Stanford or admits that he'd love to have Julius Caesar over for dinner, that get me. And don't get me started on his lack of a deadpan. I love that smile:
Oh, and yes, I adore the sheer dorkiness that radiates from him. Besides wanting Caesar, the Dalai Lama and Ted Williams at his dinner table, there's more of those little things, like the elbow pads that make him look like a little kid learning to go rollerskating, the extra pair of batting gloves he keeps in his back pocket even when he's wearing the other pair, and other such things. That's what gets me. He's so genuine, and I love that.
The thing is, if I ever meet him, I know I'll be too embarrassed and shy to talk to him properly. I'm just...gone.
2. Jacoby Ellsbury: That being said, you'd have to be stupid to get rid of this.
3. Clay Buchholz: He reminds me of an anime character, which gets him some extra leverage here. Of course, I'm not so sure I'm his type now, anyway.
4. Brandon Moss: He's adorable, he's amusing, and he likes gum. However, I think he's the property of
someone else on my Friends' List.
5. Dusty Brown: I am absolutely, positively in love with his arm. It's insanely impressive. Oh, and he's easy on the eyes, too.
6. George Kottaras: I like Canada! Yay! (Also, he'll take me to the mall so I can go book-shopping. Cool. Looooong story.)
7. Chris Carter: I like my Stanford kids, and Chris also shares one of my hobbies, reading classical literature. He's also conveniently pretty.
8. Kyle Jackson: He grew up as a Sox fan, which I find so charming. He's also totally adorable.
9. Nick Hagadone: My favorite low-level pitching prospect at the moment. He was a teammate of Tim Lincecum at the University of Washington (Pac-10! Woo!), which makes him awesome.
10. Michael Bowden: The eyes have it.
An extra note: Dustin Pedroia is somebody I identify with, so I can't see myself really fantasizing about him all that much. But I know what it's like to be his height, so I empathize with him on several levels...I also can't imagine Justin Masterson on any of these lists, either, simply because he's already quite happily married. I adore him, though!
Yes, I know how pathetic I am. I know.
