The Sox have added someone to their bullpen! David Aardsma (whose name comes before aardvark in the dictionary!) is on his way here from the White Sox. In return, Boston is sending Chicago two prospects, Willy Mota and Miguel Socolovich. It's the first deal I've seen in a while, so it's enough to wake me up.
There's a rumor that Santana may be dealt in the next ten days, and he'll probably go to the Mets. According to ESPN, which I was watching just before I started typing this entry, Boston's interest in him is waning. Apparently we have just now realized the awesomeness that is Jed Lowrie is in our farm system and needs to stay with us. I've been a Jed advocate for some time now (I even live-blogged the Arizona Fall League in his honor), so this is good news to me. Then again, that Santana rumor is just that - a rumor. Who knows what'll actually happen? In that case, I'll be possessively clinging to Jed until this business is settled.
I finished the initial write-up for Project Pac-10! Once I get the illustrations finalized, expect an annoyingly long post about why the conference is important to the Sox organization. (It's an excuse for me to draw Dustin, Jacoby and Jed and gush over the three of them.) I actually had to do a fair deal of research on the players and prospects in order to make sure I got everyone - I spent hours on SoxProspects.com making sure I got things right. If there's anyone I miss, feel free to let me know - I have what I think is a pretty good list, but it's really easy to miss a name or two. (And no, I didn't skip over Tito and Millsy.)
Finally,
let's have some fun with The Dugout! I've been waiting for an Evan Longoria/Eva Longoria joke ever since I first came across Evan in the Arizona Fall League (thanks, Jed!), and now I have one. Hooray!
EDIT: I found Daisuke Matsuzaka's high school's website! You can check out Yokohama Koko on the web
here. EDIT 2: Updated
slumberwood! Woohoo! I can't believe I'm actually keeping up with a project for a change...
Oh, and I did some random Jacoby lineart a week or two ago.
