Today I met with my adviser about my courses for next year. It turns out I have to take two capstone courses, one for history and one for Civil War Era Studies (my minor). I am not thrilled about this.
See, we history majors have to do a ton of writing. A thesis for the average history seminar here can be anywhere between 25-40 pages. Besides the other history courses I'll be taking next year, I'll be writing 50-80 pages next year. As much as I utterly adore writing, I'm a creative writing person, and as happy as history makes me this is a bit daunting, considering that these are my capstone courses.
The other courses I'm taking next year are almost all either history or Civil War courses, with the exception of two IDS classes. One of the IDS courses is actually an education course that
soprano_no_eiji suggested I take because ed classes are awesome and everyone in the ed department is extremely nice. I'm actually really excited about it because it sounds like a lot of fun!
At least my readings next year will be insanely awesome. Ugh, theses.
