soprano_no_eiji and I returned from Spring Training today. And we come bearing lots and lots of photos!
Our first game was on Monday, when we were in Jupiter to catch the Mets taking on the Marlins.
My first baseball photo of 2010 was Shawn Bowman, a corner infield prospect.
No, Murph isn't wearing anything on his hand. It's a ball floating in midair like a Yaffa pasta strainer.
That's not even zoomed in. I've never gotten that close before. Ever.
Murph in action!
Shawn Bowman and Murph.
Dwight D. Eisenhower. Okay, Ike Davis.
More Bowman!
Seth McClung for
meril!
He didn't pitch very well, though.
I'm not the best at taking photos of pitchers...
An exciting video in which Daniel Murphy walks right past my camera whilst fixing his belt. Kinda hot, if you ask me, but Jed's still my favorite.
Jennry Mejia pitching! This kid is DYNAMITE. The catcher in me is in love with his stuff.
And then we visited the Mets again on Tuesday in Port St. Lucie, watching them play the Astros. Warning: lots of Jason Castro under the cut.
These are the kinds of things you find in old people's mail. The last bullet point is the best one.
Jason Castro! Go Cardinal!
Kazuo Matsui, my first favorite ballplayer (unless you count the mini-crush I had on Tsuyoshi Shinjo when I was ten).
Look, minor leaguers hiding in the back!
A Red Sox reunion! Millsy hangs out with Alex Cora and Chris Carter.
I snuck two shots of Murph with his hat off during the national anthem. Oops.
Again, oops.
Kazzy!
Mike Jacobs for
blinding_voip!
Josh Thole!
Eddie Kunz, former Oregon State Beaver!
Again, my camera and I aren't the best with pitchers...
Thursday, though, was the holy grail - the Sox came to Port St. Lucie, and my two favorite teams were in the same place at the same time. Also, this was Jed's last game before he came down with what sounds like influenza. If I'd known I would've run to Walgreen's and picked up some Campbell's chicken noodle for him. Or, you know, just made soup ourselves.
Jed and Dustin!
Lars making a face.
Dustin running along.
Jed always manages to look off-kilter.
But he can dodge things! ...occasionally.
Then he had to keep his hat off for a while. Yay!
I love when he wears his hat like that.
See? Dork!
The following photos are severely unfair:
See? Unfair.
Jed catching things. That's Che-Hsuan Lin behind him!
Dustin and Chris Carter hugging!
Lars Anderson is a very special person.
Chris Carter and Mark Wagner.
And finally, we managed to make our way to Mets open workouts before the train departed on Saturday! Here are a few of the best shots...
Look, we're really there! (This picture totally makes us look like relatives.)
This picture...yeah. I'm attracted to Jed more (he even still gives me butterflies when he smiles), but Murph here is just...holy crap. Look at the hair!
Niese watches the crowd of infielders (and R.A. Dickey). I watch Niese's legs.
But he loses interest in their conversation. I, however, do not lose interest in him. He's too cute!
Niese practices his crane move. Also, I was extremely excited to get him and his batterymate of birthday destiny (Josh Thole) in the same shot.
Oh, Evans!
Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
Kirk again, this time with Chris Carter!
Mike Cervenak totally looked at us!
Evans again!
Jon Niese was literally two feet away from me. I could have passed out. Amazingly, I didn't.

Yes, my icon is Ike Davis. As an IKEA product. The names are close enough, after all!
