Just a few quick hits from my friend's house before I go to get my back fixed later this afternoon (yes, I am missing yet another game):
Mihashi Clay broke his fingernail. As a result, we're giving him 15 days off. Eerily enough, it's his right middle finger, the same finger that Josh was sidelined by when it developed blisters last season. If Clayboy magically came back and turned into instant-win Beckett, that would be remarkable. I know it doesn't actually work that way, but wouldn't it make an amazing plot twist? Either way, he'll be out for a long enough time that he'll need a spot starter. Could this be the return of Rick Astley?
Jonathan Van Every is up to fill in the extra outfielder slot! He'll cover for J.D. Drew for a bit until the latter recovers. I've been looking forward to seeing Van Every with the big club - this should be fun to watch. As hard as it is to watch players suffer injuries, I can't help but feel a bit of pride when prospects are called up to play in their place for a bit.
The Pac-10 update of the week and the epic Oofuri comparison post will both come later, when I'm home and have a lot more time to work on them. Arizona State is currently leading the conference again, but Stanford is breathing down their necks. More on that later, after my back works again...
