now that she's back in the atmosphere, drops of jupiter in her hair

crash-landing.
I boarded the plane with absolutely no expectations - an 8-day trip (only 7, really) which would probably involve a lot of time with my grandma, shopping and catching up with a select few. What ensued was stranger than I could've imagined (which, given my fancifully rampant imagination, says a lot) and yet peculiarly wonderful.

Heading back to Singapore is always a bit like defrosting something left in the far reaches of an industrial-sized freezer. My relationships with people stagnate during my absence, mostly due to the busyness of living (on both sides) and my own carelessness. I guess that's why people never condone long-distance relationships - all it takes is either side to stall, and traffic piles up till there is no longer room for anything to move. Anyway, this time involved revisiting past relationships but also establishing new ones, something I'm entirely unaccustomed to when it comes to these jaunts back.

I like being thought of, which is why i packed the glo-stick that was stolen for me from children and have put it on my bedside table. I also like remembering, hence the messages stored in my phone of conversations I want to remember or specific things I want to read over and smile at. It is, of course, needy and ridiculous but that's me - there isn't enough love in this world to go around chucking away or deleting any. Out of 21 possible meals there I paid for 3, which makes me feel incredibly loved and yet terribly bad at the same time; I still can't quite decide. Here's to hoping that some things will keep trudging down the same beaten path that they've been sprinting down these 8 days - I know better than to expect 100m pace for a marathon, so for now I'm content for things to move along comfortably.

My grandmother also received Christ, which was a huge huge boulder off Dad's chest. I don't know how long she has left (she wasn't doing all that well), but at least now we have the comfort that we'll be seeing her again. She was baptised in the hospital on Thursday and it was beautiful. One uncle, one auntie and many people from our church were present, and the smile on her face was amazing. She was also more lucid that day than I'd seen her in the past week. Even if nothing else had happened that week, that would've made it all worthwhile

If you want to know more/elaboration, please ask. I would gladly share more, but some things I'd rather not broadcast on the Internet.

summer plans.
Google calendar just informed me that I'm working every single day this week - something I'm prepared to do and yet still slightly unwilling to. It's like stripping off your parachute immediately after skydiving and going straight into a marathon, without time to stop and comprehend the enormity of what you've just done. I guess it'll just be the rude shove into reality I need so that my feet stay firmly glued onto the ground.

I plan on slaving in the house all summer, helping Mum unpack and getting the place into decent shape. I also intend on taking long walks around the area and maybe some running. What better time to get back into exercise than a 3-month long summer holiday? I will also take more time out to read and write, so be expecting lengthy posts about everything and nothing in particular.
