Everything that has happened.
- I'm in my brand new, super-shiny apartment in HIllsboro, Ore.
- I'm figuring out where my lint roller is so Seth can get rid of the fuzzies from his work clothes.
- Seth's finding a trail for us to explore, in Portland.
We got here, safely and on schedule! We stayed in a friends house (while he was away) from June 1st until... almost 2 weeks later? It took Seth about a week and a half to get a job interview with a company called Evergreen Engineering, and two days later while we were lounging in the summer sun in a Eugene, Ore. park (trying to work on his vampire-like paleness) he got a job offer, benefits and the works. We had DAYS to find an apartment up in the Portland area (Hillsboro is about 4 miles away, a beautiful trimmed suburb), and ended up getting lucky with a just built place in the Heron Creek community. I got crazy with the Internet guy (who said they wouldn't be able to install it til July) and they came just as we were moving in on the Friday before the 25th of June.
Seth started work on the 25th, and we've been... so happy, so lucky, and have been doing everything we said we would!
Columbia River Gorge, as we were driving along the border between WA and OR. This was taken from a random stop along the way, not indicated or even a rest stop, but a "I have to change my shoes" stop.
When we first arrived, all we could think about was getting Seth a job, and seeing the coast. So, we took the 40 minute drive to the coast and just... drove. Even though we didn't go but 10 miles along the coast, stopped every few minutes to take pictures made the event take all day. It was amazing!
The Pacific Ocean. It is... so big. And so full of sea lions!
I've never loved trees so much. So tall, so... characteristic of Oregon, and the Pacific Northwest!
Portland is a madhouse of crazy people and rain. We LOVE IT! And so does our little deer hunter friend swinging in the truck!
The first place we went? Why, of course. IKEA! Literally, we signed the lease, unpacked the cars into a big pile in the living room (that's still there, a week later) and took the MAX train to IKEA to prepare for all of the money spending we would have to do to get some basic furnishings. I'm happy I packed my IKEA chairs though!
I would put more pictures, but I'm afraid Livejournal might have a seizure! I miss everyone, and I'm happy I could finally update you guys on everything! What's changed with y'all?
