Hilary sits at the table, back in the corner of the Buttery, looking everywhere but at the folded newspaper. She forces a smile to the waitress, coming around to refill her coffee, and turns her head as the woman walks away.

With a heavy sigh, she reaches for the paper and unfolds it. She knows better than to even look at the review, but the hold Grace Cavendish has over her, even after all these years, is too strong. The photo of the brunette beaming at her is almost too much, which causes Hilary to wince and refold the paper to hide the image.

"Don't bother," she hears, and glances up to see Scott sliding into the booth across from her. "It was a disaster," he announces with a bright grin.

"Oh, was it now?" she asks with a snap, making an effort to glance at the paper, though she doesn't actually read the words. She doesn't want to let him see any satisfaction at the news, but this is Scott Sherwood, and if she knows one thing, it's to never trust Scott Sherwood.

"I'm wounded, Hildy," he replies, making a face as he reaches for her untouched toast and waves to the waitress.

"What are you doing here?" Hilary hisses, glaring as she watches him eat the slice of toast in only two bites.

"Stopping you from making yourself more angry," Scott replies, snatching the paper from Hilary's hand. At her squeak, Scott made a face and used his other hand to shove the plate of toast at her. "Eat your breakfast, Hildy. Big day at work, today."

Hilary rolls her eyes and picks up a piece of toast, hoping that the mention of the light purple dress Grace wore to the premiere made her look frumpy and old.
