He rather enjoyed the night. It was cool, dark, quiet. The selection of people he found then were always more exquisite, as well. He moved along a broken sidewalk in silent contemplation, slipping in and out of heavy shadows like a figment of an overactive imagination.

Texas was a quiet state, it seemed. So few people out at night, it was almost boring. He would certainly be moving on soon if he didn't find any entertainment.

As if the world had heard and obeyed his call, his roaming eyes caught the small figure of a lone boy, sitting on a swingset. From this distance, he didn't look particularly depressed, or as if he were waiting anything.

It was as if he'd simply decided to wander after midnight to a playground on his own, right out of the blue. How intriguing. Maybe he made a habit out of it?

With a small smile, he change course to walk quietly up to the swingset the boy sat at, leaning against the cool metal disinterestedly.

"Cold night for a walk, isn't it?"

Kirin started and placed a hand to his chest as he turned to look at the man with wide-eyes. "-scared me."

The man was clearly older than him, but looked relatively harmless. As harmless as a grown man who hung around playground in the middle of the night could be.

"Cold? Texas? Very funny." Kirin laughed nervously as he stood from the swing.

A wan smile. "Colder than the day. Colder than one would believe it could be possible to be in Texas."

He tilted his head slightly, glancing up and down the slight frame of the boy a moment. "Cold or not, few others are out walking, are they? Having trouble sleeping, perhaps?"

"I could ask you the same thing." Kirin muttered, surprised at how defensive he sounded. He couldn't explain it, but for some reason, the way the man looked at him made him feel uneasy.

"I might just wake up early and like to excercise before school. Why do you care anyway?" he stepped away from the swings.

"Sitting on a swing is an odd sort of excersize for someone as old as you." He replied, his voice devoid of feeling. He made no move to follow the small boy, simply watching him instead.

It wasn't as if the boy could get far if he decided to bolt, after all.

"Don't let me interefere." He nodded toward the recently abandoned swing. "Although, I could help you...if you needed a push."
