Back in the saddle

A quick update:
  • My computer has once again been reborn, this time in an Ubuntu incarnation. I guess now I will finally learn Linux.
  • I am still unemployed, but trying to enjoy it more. There is baking and decorating to be done for the holidays, so I have both old and new skills to hone over the next few weeks. The new beginnings will have to wait until the new year.
  • Our house survived a hurricane unscathed a few years ago, but an autumn storm wreaked havoc on our roof last week. I found  some metal siding in the yard, but it wasn't anything my F-I-L couldn't fix in a morning. The neighbors also suffered some damage, but luckily nothing came off altogether, or else it would have ended up in the girl's bedroom or on one of our cars. :O
  • June has the stomach flu. 'Nuf said.

I missed the last few days of NaBloPoMo because of the computer meltdown, but it was nice to get back into the habit of writing regularly again in November, connect with friends and get back in touch with myself. This became especially clear once I became computerless. If all of our IQs drop 30 points when we can't connect to Wikipedia, the serotonin levels in my brain drop just as much when I can't get my LJ-fix.
Or to put it another way, I've missed you!

half-full, holidays, june
