“Sara…” Sofia’s voice was sharp, ringing desperately as she moved to snatch the blade from Sara, cursing lightly as she grabbed the blade, cutting her hand. She brushed her hair back, a streak of red left among her blonde-brown hair as she pushed it from her eyes. She dropped the blade, wrapping a hankie tight around her hand, tying it firmly before moving to inspect Sara’s arms… “How long?” She was fighting back the tears, her blue eyes turning crystal.
“A… A year…” Sara admitted eventually, her own brown/black hair falling into her brown eyes. She had exposed her arms, showing the old bruises and cuts.
“Oh Sara…” Sofia whispered, pulling the woman closer, hugging her softly, ignoring the pain in her hand. She felt Sara’s breath hitch as she cried. She cradled the sobbing woman, showering her face with tender kisses. “Shhh…” She soothed gently.
