The night when he died, Damion had known.
Just like that. It suddenly just appeared, just as he was about to leave the house and the girl he had slept with that night, another nameless face to go with the thousands of others in his mind. She had tried to kiss him, tell him to come back later, that she'd miss him.
They both knew he wouldn't come back.
He wondered what had killed him, was it old-age (time may have moved on by many, many years on Earth while he had been in the afterlife, it was now the 54th era of the afterlife now after all), or simply what he had always felt Piers would die of - the boy who had said 'Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse'.
Suicide.
He yawned, the cigarette in his hand still glowing, as he took another puff, wondering why he still smoked, why it was always the things that were the most likely to kill him that he loved so much.
Then again, there was only really one way to kill him, and very few people knew of how to 'kill' demons and angels.
He knew how, but he didn't share his knowledge with anybody. A little knowledge was a dangerous thing after all.
The dawn glowed, and he stood up, throwing the stub of the cigarette to the far away ground. The smell of the smoke surrounded him, reminding him of the one person, the only one person he had ever thought he loved.
He's dead, and he's not coming to find you again, the little voice whispered in his ear, and he sighed, his wings coming out of his back, feeling the threat and trying to protect him.
"Goddamn!" The scream echoed in the early morning air, and he screamed it again, hoping if he said it loud enough, he would come back.
He wished he had never let Piers leave that room after they had fought, and maybe he wouldn't be here screaming out to the fucking unfair god he knew was watching him, and laughing, laughing and laughing at the folly of his favourite demon target.
"Why do you have to fucking mock me? Why can't I just have him back?! Why did he have to die and then leave me behind? Is it is fucked up destiny to finally fall in love and then lose them forever? I tried to tell him, I tried to tell him so many times, and something, something, would just stop me!"
"DO YOU FUCKING HATE ME THAT MUCH?!!?!?!?!?!?!" There was a hand on his shoulder.
"Even if god hates you, I don't." He spurn around, hoping to see Piers behind him. No such luck. Just another angel.
"Alex." He spat.
"Damion. It's been, oh, how long?"
"Over an era."
"Really? Time sure does go slow."
"Why did you come here?"
"She's looking for him."
"Good for her."
"She wants to know if you want to come." He lit another cigarette, the comfort of the glowing stick calmed him, and he slowly sucked in, then blew out, the smoke going into Alex's face. He coughed, and Damion smirked.
"I can't. I've got things to do."
"But I thought you said you love him."
"I say many things." Damion took another drag, the smoke burning his lungs this time, and he wanted to scream, but he would never show weakness in front of the angel.
"Would you like me to give Piers a message from you?"
"Tell him I said...goodbye." The demon threw the stub into the thick snow on the ground, and his wings reappeared, as he prepared to leave, leave this love and this entire reality behind.
"Just goodbye?"
"Goodbye, sayonara, adios, farewell, aloha, ciao, whatever pretty way you would put it."
"One day we'll meet again. Until that day, goodbye, my love. I'm right, aren't I? That's what you really want to say." Damion kissed the angel on the cheek, a chaste kiss which simply meant goodbye to his long term 'rival'.
"No. There is no one day." With these words, he took off to the sky, leaving the guardian angel behind. Alex smiled to himself, and muttered.
"Sayonara Damion. But it will happen, again and again. It's a familiar story, with you two meeting and parting, and crying and laughing, and love and hate. I'm sure I'll see you two together again.”

“Oh god yes! HARDER! HARDER GODDAMN PIERS!”
“Oh Damion...”
“And who the hell is that?” They both stopped, she looked pissed while he just looked suprised. Piers had broken the number one of avoiding getting busted by your girlfriend while sleeping around:
For the love of god, do not moan out the wrong name in sex.
“PIERS! WHO IS THAT?” Piers fell off the bed, trying to find his clothes so he wouldn’t have to run out from his pissed off girlfriend completely naked. “PIERS! YOU’RE SLEEPING WITH SOMEONE ELSE!” He was pulling on his clothes, getting his coat, and quickly about to leave when she tackled him, pinning him to the ground."WHO IS HE?"
“Nobody you know!” Piers managed to push her off, and quickly left the room, hearing the words “YOU’RE DUMPED!” being screamed at him.
Again.
Guy found the whole thing hilarious, probably because she had never had to deal with such a thing. He asked her if she still screamed out his name, and she smacks him hard on the head, causing him to choke on his drink.
Damion, meanwhile, was amused by the entire thing, but more because, as he said
“The chick must have been a crap lay if you called for me instead.” He laughed and informed him that his ego was just getting too big. Damion just laughed again, and kissed him.
Thing was, the girl wasn’t bad. It was just...well, he simply cared more for Damion.
Not that he would ever admit that.
