An Idea!

Sep 17, 2007 18:58

Was wondering if anyone here would be interested in reading a book decided by the group once a month (giving you the whole month to get through it, cuz you all actualy have lives)  and then having a discussion about it.

Tell me what you think so if thier's interest we can get this idea off the ground!

Note: I've made a new post of books ( Read more... )

I like the idea, but reading books in the original language is a bit tiresome and beyond my skills, so I would ask that we not do that. Otherwise, count me in! Here is my list of 5 suggestions.

1. Dune by Frank Herbert (I noticed a suggestion for Dune Messiah, and feel we should start at the beginning of the series, rather than the middle.)
2. Guilty Pleasures by LKH (Hey, I liked the suggestion!)
3. The Beekeepers Apprentice by Laurie R. King (Very good Sherlock Holmes Spin off series)
4. Nora Roberts Three sisters series, or any of her Irish series (Concannon or Gallagher)
5. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (I read it as required reading in High School and have not been able to read it since and I want to read the rest of the series!)

If we start a series book, like Dune, Guilty Pleasures, or The Beekeepers Apprentice, are we going to continue the series each month or will we switch off every month? If we decide to not read the books series continuously, then we should post a review of the previous events as a refresher for the month we move to the next book in the series. I could volunteer to do that, if needed.

If we decide to read a series at any point I'l hold you to that review-making promise.

Moved your Recs over to the new post btw so check it out when we vote sometime next week.
