An Idea!

Sep 17, 2007 18:58

Was wondering if anyone here would be interested in reading a book decided by the group once a month (giving you the whole month to get through it, cuz you all actualy have lives)  and then having a discussion about it.

Tell me what you think so if thier's interest we can get this idea off the ground!

In theory I would. There are a number of things that make me wonder, like the lack of money or the question if we come up with something I would be interested in... or if I will be able to get it from Amazon.
And the most practical one:
Is there going to be a language restriction?
Like, you know: I love English, and a lot of stuff has to be read in the original language, but lazy-me would probably prefer to read some high-end English literature classics in a my mother language. XD

Oh, and what I was wondering:
What kind of books do we intend to read? I mean: any category that is already choosen or are we wide open and just see what comes?

I think the fairest thing to do to have everyboby make a rec list of 1-5 books they would like the community to read, we post them, and then vote.

The book can be any genre, tho we should prob pick a max page limit for the first few, and see how that goes. Some classics sound like a good way to start.

As to read things not in orginally written in english and getting the books; I'm more then willing to give it a shot as long as there is an english version avalable. It's and esp good idea for german because then you can talk to use about any big translation differences (I think that kind of stuff is so neat).

I'm also willing to see if I can get them used for cheap online and ship them out if anyones having a whole lotta trouble finding a copy.

If people are really into this I may may this group harder to join because it will demand a bit more time and money.

How does that sound?

Sounds good to me. ^^
As long as we won't jump right into the Mann family I am willing to go with it. ^^
So, well: give a page limit and we are good to go...
Though at the moment it seems that we are... two?

I forgot I'd replied to this...

Yup, it's doable. *lol13-year-oldsexjoke*

But I'm going to have hell trying to fit MORE reading in with my school work. ;_;

Get through as much as you can!

It's not like it mandatory or we'll beat you if you don't finish <3

I like the idea, but reading books in the original language is a bit tiresome and beyond my skills, so I would ask that we not do that. Otherwise, count me in! Here is my list of 5 suggestions ( ... )
