Several scales. Household scale. Problems like 'forgot to buy something in the supermarket'. An individual human being scale. Problems like 'what should I do', 'how do I raise my children'. Country scale. Problems like 'relationships with other countries', 'energy' etc. Earth scale. Problems like 'ecology', 'future of humankind'. Solar system scale. Problems like 'Sun is not eternal', 'asteroids' etc. Galaxy scale. Problems like 'star fuel will run out eventually', 'possible impact with other galaxies'. Universe scale. Problem 'the Universe will die sooner or later, the question is just how exactly'. Before that will happen, however, we can take our time and learn. We can try to find the universal meaning of life and everything. Like why does this world exist? What is it's purpose?
As you can see, granted that there are no greater scales than that of the Universe, granted that humankind survives long enough, and granted that we will want to prevent the death of our Universe -- everything we do is a small step towards the ultimate goal -- prevention of the Death of the Universe.
