He told me about how his wife walked in on him and her co-worker in the bedroom. Yeah. Her co-worker. Yeah, I know. So she opened the door and saw them and she, like, kind of buckled. Y'know? Then she shook it off, and there's this tense second, and then he starts babbling a mile a minute and the co-worker starts muttering and looking away. The wife's just standing there. And they're not getting out of the bed. I mean, they're naked, she's right there, it was a catch-22. They both keep apologizing to her, and he's talking really fast now. Yeah, I would be too. 'Cos he realizes he loves his wife now! Now that he's been caught fucking some other woman by her, of course he loves her. And she just keeps on standing there so they both had to get out of the bed naked in the end, to put on their clothes.
The co-worker just leaves without saying another word. She keeps her eyes on the ground and she goes out the door. The husband's standing there to the wife like, "Say something, just say something." (And, don't tell anyone else he told me this 'cos he'd kill me, but he felt like hitting her. Yeah, he told me that. He wanted to hit her, 'cos I mean, he was begging for forgiveness or whatever and she was just like this statue, y'know? She's just standing there with this look on her face like she's just looking out the window one summer afternoon.)
And she says, "I want to go to the movies tonight. Will you take me?"
And he says, "Yes."
And he wants to say more, but he doesn't know what else to say. It's not like there's nothing to say -- there's plenty to say -- but suddenly it's like he's the statue. She wants him to take her to the movies. Okay. He will. He finishes buttoning his shirt and he takes the car keys and off they go. They're in the car. He's backing out of the driveway. And then suddenly she just bursts into tears. She just starts crying and he steps on the break. Not a screeching halt or anything. He just steps on it like he's pulling into a red light. Then she's bawling her eyes out, and he's just sitting there staring straight ahead, looking really tired and lost.
No, I don't know if they ever saw the movie.
