HVAC guy came today to inspect the furnace. He found a leak by the old valve- when the previous owners replaced the furnace they used the same old valve. He replaced it so now we have (safe) heat, yay! I'm glad I insisted on this. I think we should do it every year before turning the heat on for the first time.
He also said that our furnace has an electric igniter, so no pilot light to worry about. Excellent.
One thing I love about this house is that tradesmen always get excited and compliment it when they come. People who work on houses for a living, people who see a lot of houses, always praise the craftsmanship and property values of our house :)
