Clothes, weight loss, etc.

This morning I fit into size 18 pants! Yay! I have 2 pairs of size 18 capris that Tabby gave me a few years ago. One pair was a little tight across the gut but fit in the waist; the other pair was a little tight across the hips, but I know from experience that they are always tight at first and stretch out as the day progresses. In the end I didn't wear either pair, because it was a bit too chilly for capris... but when we have some warmer days, it's sandal time.

The downside of weight loss: all the shirts I bought in the fall are too big for me, and the one from a few years ago that was "too small" is now getting loose around the middle. The older shirt I can still wear; the ones from the fall, I must give up: when I'm not paying attention they slip down in front and my bra shows and it looks hideous. Need new shirts now.

I bought a pair of plus tights at Target but haven't worn them yet... had to wash them then hang them to dry. But once they are dry, I'll be sporting my new miniskirt, with or without legwarmers. I really need to invest in a pair of basic black pumps to wear with skirts.

Something occurred to me the other day though... my shoe size has shrunk and might it keep shrinking? I went from (usually) 7.5 to (usually) 8 when I initially gained in 1997/98, then when I ballooned in 2006/07 some of my smaller shoes stopped fitting (my red loafers are actually a roomy 7.5, and now that they fit again, I've been wearing them quite often). I don't know how my size might keep changing, so I wonder where my shoe size might go. But it can't be helped, I need shoes now. I have my eye on a few styles & need to make a decision soon.

Speaking of pumps, here is something I have noticed from looking at lots of pairs: it seems that on women's pumps, the heel is always placed at a slight, leaning angle to the actual heel of the foot. Is this an illusion, or is there some engineering reason for it? Or is is a major design flaw and one reason pumps are so dangerous? I wonder about these things.

The pumps on my mind:

Dav Women's Solid Pump: I like this one because it's pretty cheap (so if my feet shrink I am not losing too much of an investment) and it's meant to resist rainy weather. January is usually pretty dry here, but coming into late February, March, and April, we get a lot of rain, so a water-resistant pump would be good for me right now. Other things I like: round toe (I love round toes) chunky, semi-wedge heel and the slight platform. And it has a removable footbed, so I can add arch support. The downside is that it appears to be glued together rather than sewn, so I don't think it will be a very long-lasting shoe.

Kenneth Cole REACTION Women's Note Yourself Round Toe Pump I am hesitant here because I haven't bought a Kenneth Cole shoe in more than a decade; I had two pairs back in the day and they turned out to be very shoddy and uncomfortable. But these shoes are very cute and the reviews are good. The upper is leather, which is amazing at that price. I love the round toe, the texture details on the toe, the chunky cone heel, and the overall sillhouette of the shoe. Less heavy-looking then the platform above; it's a really different look.

Seychelles Women's Fingers Crossed Pump This is a really cute shoe! They keep running out in black, though. I love the round toe and the detail on it- ruffles and buttons make my day. The heel is lower than on the other two shoes, and the upper is leather. Cons: one review says that the heel (which is rounded on the bottom) is wobbly, and the sillhouette of the shoe isn't quite as nice as the other shoes'. Also, it appears to be glued and not stitched.
