My neighbor K has been trying to give away his bike. It's a really nice bike, but he didn't know anyone who wanted it (it's too tall for me.) My brother saw it on K's front porch and saw that it wasn't locked up, and expressed surprise that no one had stolen it. I said that since K was trying to give it away, he didn't really care if anyone stole it. J got excited and asked me to ask K if J could have the bike, so I did, and K said yes.
J is very happy about his new bike, but now he is all anal because it got rained on last night. So now we need to figure out some way to keep his bike out of the wet. Mom bought him a helmet on Friday and he rode around the block a few times today.
J's condition is not as good as the hospital OT thought it would be. He can move his left hand, but it is weak and he has NO fine motor control. He has occupational therapy four days a week, but I am also going to work with him at home and have him try to pick up small things with his fingers.
He is also weak in his left leg. I think riding the bike will be good for that.
I love my brother.
