I answered the e-mail. Haven't looked yet for a reply. It wasn't as bad as whatever I was expecting (don't ask me what I was expecting, I don't know either).

That actually sounds really awesome. I think I love Speedo Guy. Just keep yourself busy up there; misery is like an octopus and can be kept away with occupation. You can tell I didn't get any sleep last night because that makes sense in my head.

It made sense on the first read-through and only now do I realize that actually I have no idea why octopuses can be kept away with occupation. Perhaps it is some occult relationship between the initial "oc-"?

See, it's not the actual octopus that's being kept away -- being miserable is like letting yourself be held by an octopus, but keeping yourself busy keeps you from letting yourself fall back into the tentacles.

. . . maybe you need sleep if that made sense to you on any read-through, whatsoever.

It does make sense, although it is not immediately intuitive.

At any rate, I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea of being held by an octopus. It smacks of tentacle pr0nz.
